You can make that argument about every star quarterback unfortunately, especially outside of the Catholic League. Libertyville would be good but not close to what they have if he wasn't playing quarterback there.
If Lville made the title game seems likely he would be one of the favorites. Might have the singles season passing touchdown record (60 TDs) even if they just get to the semis. Some question marks on the defense the last two weeks, no doubt the offense will put up points against almost everyone. Potential rematch with Lake Forest in round 2 very intriguing!

This has been dicussed at Demo's quite a bit and while not consensus, most - and I am in this camp - choose Hickey, who was more muscled and ran meaner. Hickey ran a 4.4 and 10.7 100M - not sure of Dierre's numbers, but he was not carrying the same physique. Dierre runs more like Darond Stovall, the smoothest athlete I ever played with or saw as a contemporary.
Comparing our level of competition to this team is no match and football back then was much more violent. Either generation of play, I go with #22 over #10.

Very true but I'm not sure that's what he was trying to say. The only thing that matters is 50 TD passes 3 INTs and over 3,000 yards throwing the ball. Edgy should give it to him now because nobody's close
Maybe some clarification. Certainly Schambow should be a canidate for high school football POY. Both his numbers, and subjective observation of his game play indicates he is among the elite players in IHSA football. Exciting player.
However, Schambow's IHSA baseball play (and his numbers) indicate he may also be considered for IHSA baseball POY. Exciting behind the plate, solid bat, without question an elite arm.

Longtime students of the game will have noticed that the Sun-Times Player of the Year award tends to go to a player who leads his team to the finals. But how often in fact has the POY played on a championship caliber team? The award goes back to 1950, but I went back only as far as 1990. Of the 33 POYs since then, 21 played on teams that made it to the finals. So while not strictly necessary, winning a team trophy does confer a distinct advantage.
