Palatine 24 South Elgin 3

Anyone go to the game? Thoughts? @kpjasion ? How'd the Pirates look?

They played a good game. Defense was lights out again, offense was able to control the line of scrimmage and therefore control the game. Their stated intent was to control the ball and keep South Elgin's QB off the field and they accomplished that.

South Elgin is a very good, hard hitting, scrappy team. The one thing I noted right away was the size difference. Every one of our lineman had to have 5 inches and 40 lbs on each of their lineman.

Just a caveat to the rest of 8A, Palatine's defense is playing very well right now, a totally different defense since Cortez Hogans returned from injury. Last week they held Hoffman Estates(who's currently up 27-0 on DeLasalle) who was averaging 32 per game and held them to 7 points and 147 yards of total offense. Today they held South Elgin, who was averaging 37 points a game, to 3 points and 154 yards of total offense.

Edwardsville looks scary based on what I saw against Huntley last night, but if we can get by them it sets up a quartefinals rematch with Barrington :)
