Today's big game is Oak Park-River Forest at Glenbard West. The stakes are high, yet simple. A Glenbard West win virtually clinches the outright West Suburban Silver title. However, an OPRF win sets up a possibility of a three-way the for the title (GW, HC, and OPRF).

HC has finished conference play with a 5-1 mark. Currently, GW is 4-0 and OPRF 3-1. If OPRF wins today, GW, HC, and OPRF would be tied in the loss column. And given that GW (at Proviso West) and OPRF (home against LT) in all likelihood will win next week, a three-way tie is the probable outcome. Of course if GW wins it's all over.

It's a nice day weather-wise for football - let's hope for a good game.

OPRF running Hetlet’s defensive scheme really well. Their LBs are really athletic as advertised. Gonna come down to turnovers. West with too many penalties keeping this game scoreless.

OPRF 7 GW 0 going into Q4.

OPRF broke a 70 yard TD run after GW turnover on downs in OP territory.

GW has ball at about midfield. OP forces 4th and 9. GW punts back to OP, takes over at its own 12 after fair catch.

OP gets a 6 yard gain from McGill on a huge 3rd and 5ish. But GW then forces a 4th and 5 from the OP 25ish yard line. OP lines up to punt. GW takes over at its own 35.

GW faces 3rd and 6 and completes contested pass to #11, then completes nice play action pass down into OP territory. Ball at OP 14. 2nd and 2. Cox down to 6. 1st and goal. Cox stuffed. 2nd and goal from 7. Cox down to 3. 3rd and goal. Stuffed! 4th down and goal from the 5! GW TO. They line up and then call another TO. They line up again and run a reverse to Cox who then looks to pass it to his QB who is open for a GW TD! Wow. With 1:21 left OPRF 7 GW 7.

OPRF returns the kickoff past midfield into GW territory! McGill keeper goes for 4. McGill on a delayed QB draw goes down to GW 33. False start by OP moves them back to GW 38. McGill sacked at GW 45. 2nd and 20. Pass complete down to GW 30, and faces 3rd and 7. OP calls TO. McGill QB keeper and its very close to first down. TO OP. 4th and 1 at the GW 24. OP lines up to kick FG. They nail a 41 yard FG with :03 on the clock. Holy cow. Down go the Hitters. Final score OPRF 10 GW 7.

OPRF played a supremely disciplined game and deserved the win. Penalties killed a few promising GW drives but OPRF gets major kudos. Their defense attacked at better angles than they have ever shown against West. Seriously impressed to see them play a full four quarters so disciplined. They might have had 3 penalties and no turnovers and very few negative plays.

Congrats guys.

They effectively implemented Hetlet’s stack 3 defense which keeps their outside LBs off the LoS and available to move laterally to string out West’s stretch plays. Haven’t seen the numbers but Cox had to have 175+ yards, but like that West D does to so many teams, most of this came between the 20’s. OPRF tightened the screws as they got backed up in the red zone and made some huge stops. Great LB by OPRF.

This sounded like a great game. Damn wish I could of been there. Great job OPRF. Sorry MS you can’t hang your head with a battle like that.

I’ve said all year the best Defense I have seen live this year is OPFR. Only Area they might be somewhat vulnerable is a very good passing game.

3 way tie for the conference title. No dominant team this year. All 8A teams will be out by the second weekend
