Numbers 1 and 2 in IL

Looking at it right now, #1 is Alleman's Charles Jagusah #2 EStL's Miles McVay #3 Brook's Damon Walters #4 EStL's Paris Patterson.

Any scoop on this Alleman kid?

RE: Miles McVay, who spent another weekend in Tuscaloosa, "Alabama is still up there. They are doing fine with me, but I do not have an overall leader. I'd say the closest thing to a leader right now is probably Mizzou. The distance from home is the biggest factor. My mom will be able to come to the games and who wouldn't want to be a home-town hero?"

Hometown hero is what Luther is calling himself and what Coach Drink is pushing for that STL to CoMo pipeline.

East St. Louis (Ill.) four-star offensive tackle Miles McVay has named his top 12.
The schools are Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Alabama, USC, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Oregon.

Arkansas recently announced the hiring of former Illinois defensive back Terry Hawthorne as a quality control analyst on defense. Hawthorne is an East St. Louis graduate which helped McVay's desire to visit the Hogs.

"I came in with an open mind and I was actually surprised I enjoyed my time down here because when you think of Arkansas you think of ... or at least when I think of Arkansas, I think of the middle of nowhere," McVay said. "So now that I actually came down to check it out, I really liked it."

@EdgyTim - Why has MM dropped so much in the rating services' eyes? The injury rehab and limited reps in the showcase events or have other monsters shown to have more upside? Cryptic comments about holding his own at the recent KC camp against smaller edge rushers. I've seen you argue he should get his 5th start - still have the same feelings?

The thread title is no longer accurate, but ...

I like this:

"I got a chance to do some of the drills out on the field with the players," Miles McVay said. "The coaches were not out there. It was good to work-out with them. It was definitely an eye-opener. I didn't realize how fast they move. I asked afterwards to one of the trainers if I am out of shape or if they just train really hard. He said both; you can be in the best shape in the world, but come down here and you are still going to be worn out. It was a big reason I went down there. I wanted to get the full experience with the team."

MM and PP 1v1 reps at the Rivals camp in Indy. They are featured as the first two - about 10 reps each.

MM is a dick ... in a good way you want your OTs to be ... PP absolutely dominated each of his reps at guard.
Hadn't seen this. Wow. MM does such a great job of keeping his weight back and not lunging. He waits for guys to make their first move and his hand placement, with his long arms, is tough to beat. Very impressed.

All.... A question for you East St. Louis gents.... USA Today brought out their 40th annual All Time Super 25 Champion List. I assume that means it can change at times. They have the 1985 14-0 Flyer team in that group. Anyone recall what this team had going? Just curious. Ratsy

Five years ago, the Tribune did a piece on "the 32 greatest high school football teams of all time." This is what they said about the '85 Flyers:

Record: 14-0, Class 6A champions.

Coach: Bob Shannon.

Playoff victory margin: 35.0 (Danville 44-0, Lockport 58-12, Sandburg 13-0, Buffalo Grove 33-7, Brother Rice 46-0).

Why the Flyers were great: They were named national champs by USA Today and the National Sports News Service, the last team from Illinois to earn that title — a fitting honor for perhaps the state's all-time best team. Their 46-0 rout of Brother Rice in the Class 6A championship concluded a three-year run in which the Flyers went 40-0 with three 6A titles. They won their five playoff games by a combined score of 194-19 and punted a total of 10 times in 14 games. Key players included LB Bryan Cox, QB Kerwin Price, OL Anthony Buckner, RB Marvin Lampkin and WRs Art Sargent and Cortez Robinson. They capped a run of three straight state titles, finishing with national rankings of 2 in 1984 and 4 in 1983.

Here's the full article, which is a great look back at the 32 best teams:

Actually they won 44 Straight before being upset by Granite City in the regular season that ended winning streak. That team was a beast.

Takes balls to play at BAMA. Best be ready to dogfight Day 1 or it will be hell.
Since I am a huge Bama I am pretty happy right. He better bring his A game if he plans on playing for the Tide. I think he will but nothing in life is a sure thing. Go get ‘em Miles!
Roll Tide!

Paris Patterson was listed as one of the biggest weight gainers at Arkansas, which lists him now as 6-6 361. He has added 21 pounds since coming to campus and is the heftiest Razorback on the roster.

Miles McVay is now down to 350 from "north of 370" at 6-6, and the other freshman tackles, each 6-7 all gained:
Olaus Alinen - 316 to 325
Wilkin Formby - 295 to 320
Kadyn Proctor - 330 to 354

I have seen reports Miles will redshirt, but a recent Rivals piece has this quote: "He has played incredibly well against some stiff competition this season and may be more college-ready than (Charles) Jagusah right now." — national recruiting analyst Clint Cosgrove

He is projecting as a right guard.
