Please noiminate your worthy State Wide IHSA varsity head football coach from Week 1 action. Also please provide why they deserve to win this weekly award

Thanks

Jerald Bibbs (Maine East). With the impressive 28-point victory over Aurora East, it appears the first-year coach has had a dramatic impact on the Blue Demons. I do not remember the last time Maine East won more than one game in a season, and there have been a number of recent seasons in which they have gone winless. With Round Lake on the schedule and other possible winnable games, Maine East may win three or four games this year. The big win seems deserving of recognition.

Derek Spates, Decatur MacArthur. Spates lost his nationally recruited RB who moved out of state and a good QB to graduation and still got a decisive 47-6 road win against Mattoon. The Green Wave were only 2-7 last year but still an impressive start for the Generals.

Brad Swanson of Harvard. The Hornets last won a game October 8 2021. They won Friday 42-7 over lisle snapping a 20-game losing streak. It’s the most points they’ve scored in a game since they beat Rockford Christian 42-8, in 2014.

Coach Christopher Mann of Bloom Township School District 206, not only this week he had to lead a freshmen team to victory 18 to 7 against Lincoln Way West, but also had to fill in as Head Coach of the program and lead the Varsity team to victory against Gage Park 40 to 0
