Biggest surprise? No Vaughn Pemberton
this is chosen by the coaches if coaches a don’t nominate a player they don’t get selected - kind of a screwed up system
So you are suggesting that Holecek did not nominate Pemberton? You do realize this is chosen by the coaches - ie coaches nominate players
It’s quite possible yes. Some coaches don’t even go through the nomination process. And the “committee” picks and chooses to select the team. It’s a horribly flawed process as it’s been for several years. So you are suggesting that Holecek did not nominate Pemberton?
He did nominate Pemberton. But if you look at the list, you'll notice that no team has more than one player-that's clearly what they decided. They ought to just come out and say it rather than pretend like it's a real All-State team. It's a ridiculous rule and process that means the player who lead Illinois in rushing touchdowns, was Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year, and MVP of the Catholic League Blue (by every account the top league in the state) is left off the first team. The IHSA is getting blasted on Twitter for omitting Pemberton-and they should be. It's not just flawed; it stinks of down state favoritism. It’s quite possible yes. THE IHSA a has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS! No matter how crazy of a conspiracy you want to live with they did not and so not have anything to do with selecting this team.He did nominate Pemberton. Ah, yes. The mysterious committee you mentioned earlier...THE IHSA a has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS! No matter how crazy of a conspiracy you want to live with they did not and so not have anything to do with selecting this team.
no team has more than one player
Every year this happens - you must be new here. Let me share a little tip - the IHSA and IHSFCA are.........wait for it, wait for it, DING, not the same.Ah, yes. The mysterious committee you mentioned earlier...
Not true. I counted ten teams with two players each.
While I agree that it is a flawed system, how do you equate the 8A team with down state favoritism? There is one player on the entire team from outside the Chicago area.He did nominate Pemberton. Thanks, Blue Ruin. I should have said IHSFCA not IHSA. Mea culpa. I am aware of the difference. It still doesn't make sense that either of those players were omitted, regardless of who was making the selection. The Illinois High School Association "regulates competition in most interscholastic sports." The Illinois High School Football Coaches Association, sponsored by Max Preps, advertises openings for coaches and creates a list of All State players, as does the Tribune. The Sun-Times has an All-Area Team and named Pemberton The Player of the Year. The lists have some overlap but the match is not exact. Last year, Jalen Grant made the Tribune's list but apparently was omitted from the IHSFCA's.
Correct.I think he may have been referring to the 8A all state team. No 8A school has multiple players.
