New Bears Coach - Top Requirement??

What is your top requirements for the search for the new Head Coach for the Bears?

Mine is relatively easy.

Must have a mustache. Yes, that's right, he must have a mustache.

All the Head Coaches/Managers who have won the big game in their respective sport in Chicago had the "stache".

This includes Jackson, Ditka, Ozzie and Quenneville.

Then my #2 requirement - No Cutler

The number one reqirement for the next Bear coach is that he be hired by the new general manager - not some mope like McCaskey or Phillips.

If not, then he can claim no responsibility if things go south again.

Leadership begins with accountability.

The most important thing for the Bears is to find personnel who know how to draft. The '85 Bears management team built their team through the draft. The Green Bay Packers have shown they know how to build through the draft.

The Bears current regime does an aweful job recognizing good college talent. The draft is where Super Bowl teams are built. Free Agency has it's purpose but the Bears have been paying premium player rate prices for average to below average talent.

Time to go back to the basics - Build through the draft.

We are long over due for a lowering of the bar.

The new coach must agree to
1. say nothing about expectations about a winning season within a particular number of years
2. not mention any important past Bear players, or the "iconic" image of the franchise
3. refrain from saying anything about the Packers, or how important it may or may not be to beat them

4. Educate the fandom that the game has changed since George Halas coached and that the image of "Bear Football" of the 60s, 70s & 80s should be sought only via highlight reels and not on the field in today's NFL ------ many of the comments within that Press Conference seemed aimed at a lowest common denominator.
5. If they ignore #4, hire Russ Grimm

Sadly it will be tough for the Bears to find a good, qualified coach who even WANTS the job. The Bears are a broken organization, (read McCaskey/Phillips), who are delusional as well as inept. Should they somehow manage to find a good GM and HC (LOL) they will be saddled with a salary bloated aging group of mediocre (at best) talent. Oh, Happy New Year!!!

The Bears will end up hiring still another guy with no head coaching experience and we will be right back here in two years complaining about the same things we always have.
