The baby Wildcats are a completely different team these days. Big win at Central. Might be a salty opponent in the playoffs.

The exact opposite happened in this game as the last..The first time Neuqua turned the ball over and Central scored 3 TDs off of those turnovers.. tonight Central turned it over twice which led to the Wildcats scoring. It's as simple as that and. the NV QB made some nice plays when they needed it. For all intent purposes the end of the DuPage Valley Conference has come..48 years of great football history. Naperville Central won the first DVC championship in 1975 with a 7-2 record and they win the 2023 DVC Championship with an overall recired of....7-2. Unless something changes in the future with these divisional setups in this conference. you're probably not going to see Central and Neuqua playing again for quite a while. Unless it's in the playoffs...Thanks Southside for the memories...and who knows.. maybe these two will cross paths again in the coming weeks. .

We all sort of knew that the league was on its last legs when the Valley’s came in and the Wheaton’s/GBN bolted. Sad to see such a historic conference go off into the ether.

As for the game, NV early in the year was turnover and penalty prone. That’s typical with such a young team. Things have changed in the Southside. The D will usually keep ‘em in any game. They aren’t so young any more, on both sides of the ball and it shows. Will be interesting to see where they land tomorrow night.

I agree...The DVC really tried hard to get the two Oswego schools but one was willing to come and the other was hesitant abd their District would not allow them to split . They would've been a great edition and right down the road.. Thankfully...this new Conference will be solely for football and the other sports. along with the rivalries will remain intact. Central has vever been a great second time team in 1994 they beat Naperville North at Central before the games moved to NCC. eventually they ended up playing the Huskies again at Central in the state semifinals no less on a Saturday night and they lost 21-11. Last season they beat North at NCC in OT. week 9 at Central North shows up and the Redhawks get screwed blued and tattooed! ..I'll miss this rivalry.

NV football disagrees on NCs DVC title. Who knows how they sort it out.

ok
I don't know where that thought process is coming from. This cinference was decided after the 5 weeks of DVC play. This was NOT a DVC Bowl game. Perhaps to many if the blue and gold faithful it was..IlThe reality is.. it was nothing more than a simple non-conference game to fill in an open week 9 date for all 6 schools based on positioning at THE END of 5 WEEKS OF DVC PLAY!

If you go to the IHSA website and look at the DuPage Valley Conference standings next to Naperville Central you will see the letter R..which stands for Conference Representative or. Conference Champions. .

But... let's just say for argument sake this had been a legitimate DVC game and there was an actual tie as both teams would be 5-1..How would you determine a conference champion?

Let's start with overall records through 9 games Central 7-2 Neuqua 6-3.. points scored head to head .Central 35 Neuqua 33.....points against head to head Central 33 Neuqua 35 ... Total number of points scored by each team in a 9 week schedule. Central 218 Neuqua 188..Total number of points given up in a 9 week schedule, and check this out,..Central 112...Neuqua 114.... That's as close as you can get!

Either way you slice it Central would still be ahead in all these catagories and still the DVC Champions...

But others can think what they will.. the numbers don't lie . I went to watch the Central girls play volleyball last week @ Central and in the trophy case in the hall outside of the gym there are three football based trophies on display....

The WildHawk trophy Central won after the 21--7 win @ NV in week 5...the Wes Spencer "Crosstown Classic" trophy Central retained after beating Naperville North again in week 6 . and last but certainly not least the DuPage Valley Conference Championship trophy for 2023...

There are no trophys for meaningless non conference games ..
