As for the big boys, LA hopes to even up the all-time series under the high-voltage lines at Baker Stadium; meanwhile MC hopes to extend their 20-game winning streak against Fenwick which goes back to 1979, where both teams finished at 4-5 on the year.

BR -17 vs StL. Are the Vikes in "get healthy" mode? Playoffs locked up. Couple tough games to end the season (BR this week, Montini next week). If healthy, they seem like a team that can make another run. BR gave up a TD to ND last week. They'll be upset about that! Crusaders 35-14.

MC -7 vs Fenwick. Fenwick is really good and can make a nice playoff run. But I do not think it's just a TD difference between the Friars and the Caravan. MC 42-21.

Montini +5 vs Iggy. Good game on paper. Broncos defense was on display last week as they cruised past Viator. Seems like their offense is coming around a bit too as they've put up 55/34/31 last three weeks. Iggy's back against the walls here. They do just enough to stay alive. Wolfpack 24-21.

LA -33 vs CoM. Corsairs went from an early season state final darkhouse to a team that will likely be missing out on the playoffs. They are a solid team with some real talent, but that's life in the CCL. Loyola seems to be firmly back on track and will be playing for a Blue title next week. Ramblers 42-7.

Pat's +41 vs Rita. Won't be close, but Shamrocks will get some points in the 2nd half. Mustangs 42-14.

IC -10 vs Viator. Lions started off 3-0. They've lost four straight. Fortunately, they have the Shamrocks week 9 and should be able to get to 5 wins. IC started 2-0 and then lost four straight. They got back on track last week and will win last week. Unfortunately, they have Rita week 9 and will likely finish 4-5. IC 30-16.

Naz -29 vs Benet. The battle of the west burbs. The Roadrunners had one week off and almost made me forget just how good they are. Benet committed a ton of mistakes in their blowout loss to Fenwick. I don't see how they can slow down Naz. Roadrunners 46-10.

Marmion +47 vs Marist. Cadets aren't a very good football team. But they have Leo week 9 and should get in at 5-4. Their week 1 win vs Oak Forest looms large. Marist 42-0.

Providence -25 vs Marian. Setting up for a big time week 9 game between 4-4 Providence and 5-3 JCA. Will Providence be able to get a win over their rivals to secure a playoff spot next week? Should cruise this week. Celtics 35-0.

Leo +25 vs ND. I don't know. Dons 21-7.

EDIT: Forgot the DP/WSF game!

DePaul +2 vs WSF. Transitive property says WSF should win this game with relative ease (DP lost 35-7 to LA, WSF beat LA 35-21). But sometimes you got to just go with your gut. Rams 28-27.

If IC wins, Viator cannot get to 5 wins. I agree that they will win in week 9 but that would only give them 4. IC will likely lose to Rita in week 9 to finish 4-5 as you said, but they have a ton of playoff points and still have a good chance of making it at 4-5. Viator doesn't look like it can make it unless it wins the next 2 weeks to get to 5 wins.

Misread their record! Makes things even worse. Starting 3-0 and then missing the playoffs. So, essentially, this IC/Viator game is a "lose and go home" type game (pending playoff points for IC or a massive IC over Rita upset).

Brother Rice 38 (-17) Saint Laurence 13: If StL is not fully healthy, this won't be a contest at any point

Mount Carmel 23 Fenwick 19 (+7): GOTW! Everything in my bones tells me to take the Caravan, and while I do think they will get the W, I feel that Fenwick is going all out for this coming off their "bye" week and having the horses to potentially pull off an upset.

Saint Ignatius 31 (-5) Montini 17: Another potential excellent game here. Montini is going to be an absolute problem for all in 3A, but they do not need this win they way Iggy's does. I expect a close game going into the 4th, but the Wolfpack get the W.

Loyola 35 Carmel 14 (+33): Before the season, I thought this was going to be a candidate for GOTY. Now, it's just another game. Carmel not making the playoffs has to be up there for biggest surprise of the season

Saint Rita 49 (-41) Saint Patrick 0: This is just a very bad matchup for the Shamrocks

Saint Viator (+10) 27 Immaculate Conception 24: I am getting absolutely silly with this one. Lions with the upset!

Nazareth 45 Benet 21 (+29): Naz is getting primed for their second season

Saint Francis 37 (-2) DePaul 31: An excellent matchup up here. St. Francis pulls off the W late.

Marist 49 (-47) Marmion 0: Marmion is probably playoff bound and they have no win of significance and were not competitive against any decent team.

DLS @ JC: JCA getting a bye right before their rival and the playoffs.

Providence 28 Marian, Heights 16 (+25):
Provi gets that much needed 4th win before week 9

Notre Dame 24 Leo 6 (+25): An EXPLOSION of points scored by the Dons this week, but Leo is just pesky enough to not let it get out of hand

Looks like another incredible weather night this Friday. Has been the consistently best weather I can remember for 8 weeks. Had the one windy week but it wasn’t freezing and windy. I hope it continues but get out and enjoy it this weekend.

BR @ SL
I'll go Crusaders only because of the injur-oops, lack of full strength of the Vikes.
MC @ F
What A Fool Believes was a top song in '79. Friars.
SI @ MCHS
Dodge the Prep Bowl. Wolfpack.
LA @ CoM
One QB led his team to an undefeated 8A championship season, the other has all the big offers. Ramblers.
SP @ SR
Shamrocks.
SV @ ICP
Should be hard fought. Lions.
BA @ Naz
Don't see why this can't be close. Redwings.
DP @ SF
As good as the Rams are, I don't think they match up well here. Spartans.

A running clock doesn't allow you to play all the seniors. Cadets.
DLS @ JC
At one point both were named De La Salle. Would we have to say DLS, 35th and DLS, Jail?

No messing around. Celts.
