"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister
And you'll never see me no more"

A better slate than what we have for college football this Saturday.....

Mount Carmel 45 Brother Rice 21 (+34): BR has enough playmakers to cover this wide spread, but they do not have the depth of athlete to compete with the Caravan

Loyola Academy 38 (-3) Saint Ignatius 26: While I believe Loyola covers, I do think this will be a very competitive game

Saint Rita 24 (-1) Nazareth 20: GOTW! A GREAT matchup here. If transitive property means anything, it would tell me to take the Runners, but the Ponies seem to be clicking on all cylinders right now.

Saint Francis 35 (-18) Immaculate Conception 14: It's probably been quite a while since ICP has lost 4 straight. The Spartans find their footing and push the Knights to the brink of elimination.

Providence 23 (+10) Marist 21: Feeling very frisky here and going with the upset. Providence needs this game at this very moment WAY more than Marist does

Joliet Catholic 24 Notre Dame 0 (+28): Nothing to see here. The Don's simply can't move the ball

DePaul 33 Saint Viator 25 (+10): DePaul returns to the playoffs after a 9 year drought!

Benet 31 Saint Patrick 7 (+29): Benet returns to the playoffs!

Marian, Heights 32 (-8) Marmion 10: An absolute must win game for both, but Heights is significantly more battle tested.

DLS @ LEO: For those of you who think these teams should join another conference, I've got news for you: It ain't going to happen.

Saint Laurence 24 (+9) Fenwick 23: Going with a minor upset here. Should be a high quality contest of football

Carmel 35 (+2) Montini 24: Another playoff game in midseason! Both need this BAD! I've been riding the Corsairs all year so I can't leave them until they lose a 3rd time. What's crazy is that if they drop this game, they MAY NOT make the playoffs with all those returning starters.

Some interesting matchups this week. A couple stinkers. Past the halfway point of the regular season--enjoy every minute of every game.

BR +34 vs MC. Way too big of a spread. Caravan cruised 48-13 vs Benet last week. Brother Rice is a much better squad than Benet. Caravan win 42-21

Loyola -3 vs Iggy. The Jesuit rivalry. The Jesuit Pope will be tuning in from the Vatican--hear he's a fan of the option offense Iggy runs. Ramblers rounding into form with nice wins over BR and DePaul last couple weeks. They continue to roll. Ramblers 30-21.

Rita -1 vs Naz. Game of the Week! Have gone back-and-forth on this one, but ultimately, I am putting my faith in Rita's defense. JCA contained Naz's explosive offense better than anyone else has and I think Rita has a better D than JCA. Mustangs 21-14.

IC +18 vs WSF. Battle of the western burbs. After their program win over LA, the Spartans have dropped two straight. IC sits at 2-3 but showed signs of life in a hard-fought game vs Marist last week. I think this one will be close. St. Francis 30-21

Providence +10 vs Marist. Providence has LA and JCA on the schedule. A loss here puts their playoff hopes in jeopardy. They'll be ready and will pull off the upset of the week. Celtics 28-27.

JCA -28 vs ND. Dons haven't scored a point since week 2. Mind-boggling that a school of ND's size and resources can struggle so badly on offense. No game-breakers, no real offensive identity. Sad state of affairs in Niles. Won't get much better as they face one of the tougher defenses in conference. JCA 35-0.

DePaul -10 vs Viator. The Rams got a dose of reality last week vs Loyola after their 4-0 start. They are a good team but not quite ready for the "big leagues" of the CCL. Fortunately, Viator, although solid, is not a "big league" CCL team. DePaul 31-17.

Benet -29 vs Pat's. Trying not to be outdone by their rival Dons, the Shamrocks have been shutout two weeks in a row. Is the Northwest side of Chicago that devoid of offensive talent? Seems that way. Benet bounces back after their "big league dose of reality" last week vs MC. 40-7 Redwings.

Marmion +8 vs Marian. Not sure how to handicap this one to be honest. Spartans 20-17.

StL +9 vs Fenwick. This is another contender for GOTW. Really like what the Vikings bring to the table on defense. Fenwick had a 'rest week' last week. This one will be low-scoring, hard-hitting and fun. Friars 17-14.

Montini -2 vs Carmel. Man, these are two really good teams. Both are capable of makings runs in the playoffs. But the loser here faces a steep road to the playoffs as Montini still has Iggy & StL and Carmel still has Loyola & Fenwick. Love these kinds of matchups--so much on the line. I've been a Montini defense believer all year and think they'll carry the day here. Broncos 21-14.

BR +34....rivalry game. Too many points.
LA -3....these Rambler spreads sure are different than recent years.
SR -1.....GOTW. Rita's defense has been excellent. Like their chances at home.
IC +18...I think I jinxed the Spartans when I suggested they were the 5A favorites after the LA game. IC played Marist tough last week.
Provi +10....Marist wins, but Provi's defense keeps it close.
ND +28....ND struggles to score, as does JCA. The Dons defense will allow the cover.
Pat's +29
Viator +10
Marian Catholic -8....blind guess here.
STL +9....Surprised at the spread.
Montini -2....tough game to pick. CoM's offense hasn't gotten on track, and Montini's D has been outstanding.

A couple of deez lines tells me MaxPreps might have funded our favorite Pacific Coast Day Traders a little bit too late to update the algo.

BR +34 In no universe is MC 5 TDs and 4 XPs better than BR, especially on the road.

LA -3 In no universe is Iggy 3 points away from their Football big brother

SR -1 This universe’s Game of the Century for this week.

IC +18 IC ain’t going down without a fight. SF dials back in. Can I say better game than expected except I think people know this will be a well contested matchup except for Gambletron 3000

Marist -10 Interesting game between two fine programs. I want to see if my blind spot is real or actually 20/20

NND +28 Dons won’t lay down. JCA gets them in between Naz and MC and it’s in Niles. JCA just getting a W and not caring about style points.

Pat’s +29 If Gambletron 3000 said 16-20, you’d have me thinking. Making it 29 is another free square.

StV +10 Jeez, Mt. Carmel, Benet and DePaul walk into a bar. Gambletron 3000 buys them all drinks, dances with them and takes each of them home. Free square.

Marian -8 Good game here. Tough line.

Fenwick -9 tough call here. -6 is probably the right line here so going against my better judgement here but I see a final score coming on a turnover in the last series by the Vikings in their last drive to tie the game. Should be a one score game

Montini -2 Gambletron 3000 gets one right. I can argue for CoM +2 also but CoM needs to win one they’re not supposed to before I get back on the bandwagon

Have a great weekend Fam!

MC @ BR - Can't believe the Caravan is on the road in Mt Greenwood and we haven't heard a peep about the visiting stands yet. Gettin' soft fellas. Going with the Crusaders.
LA @ SI - Three points? Wowza. I think Gabletron got asked to Ignatius' hoco. Ramblers.
Naz @ SR - One point? Mustangs hit hard. Like, really hard. Ritamen.
SF @ IC - Could you imagine if they lost this week? LOL Sparty.
PC @ Marist - Not enough credit has been given to Plantz in that fiasco. Check the video. Guy is brilliant. Celts.
JC @ ND - Unfortunately the Dons are running on empty. Hillmen.
DP @ SV - Back to building. Rams.
BA @ SP - 29 points? C'mon. Shamrocks.
Heights @ MA - Sparty.
DLS @ Leo - If the game were played, it would be a barn-burner. Lions.
F @ SL - Best start since 1979. Ain't getting no respect from Gambletron. Vikes.
CoM @ MCHS - Here's an underrated GOTW. Hype vs Buzzcut. Corsairs.

BR +34
Loyola -3 🔒
Rita -1 The D gets all the shine but it will be the Rita Offense that keeps up with Naz and brings home a W.
IC +18
Marist -10 The best players in this game are PC’s downhill safety and Marist’s RB. Idk GOTW but this is matchup of the week.
ND +28 Can we bet the push?
Viator +10
Benet -29. This margin would be impressive for Benet but Pats is sliding hard. Have to go against the grain here.
Marian catholic -8
St Laurence +9 prediction: Feeto picks Larry tomorrow. And I agree.
Carmel -2. Pre-kickoff GOTW. Carmel by 2 scores.

BR 34

LA -3 Lock of the week

SR -1

IC 18

Marist -10 Late cover. Marist banged up.

JC -28

SV 10

BA -29

Marian, Heights -8

Fenwick -9

MCHS -2
