Kudos to Marian Catholic.

They are having another losing season (their 13th in the last 14). They could have called it quits after getting spanked last week by Providence, not played in week 9, taken their forfeit win against DLS, and finished at 3-6. Instead, they are chartering busses and going over 100 miles after school on Friday to play an 8-1 Rochelle squad that has been knocking the snot out of its last four opponents since dropping their lone loss of the season to 9-0 Sycamore.

I would have made Rochelle come to me for that beat down.

That’s awesome, their kids especially the seniors deserve that last opportunity!

What's the potential downwind effect on bubble teams on both MC-Heights and Rochelle opponents? Does a Rochelle win lift up one of its conference mates and does a MC loss cheapen a bubble CCL teams resume?

That’s the Marian Catholic I know & love. Fun Fact: For many years Marian address was 666 Ashland Avenue!!!! Funny for a Catholic School

This could have a big impact on Marian Catholic’s opponents playoff points totals (for both bubble teams and seeding), passing on the forfeit W to instead tussle with Rochelle. A (1) point swing could be significant.

Lots of respect for the Spartans, however, for scheduling a tough opponent!

Providence with a win Friday is in. But if they lose, that potential one playoff point could make a difference for them.

They are a 4/5 win team with a number of playoff points that will probably be real close to the bubble if they only have 4 wins.

PC should - best case - finish with (46) playoff points. If they get the W vs. JCA, subtract (1), which means they’re a lock for the playoffs.

Not enough, IMO, IF they finish 4-5 w/(46).

Gonna need (49)/(50) playoff points and a strong tie-breaker total (combined wins of defeated opponents), somewhere in the range of (15)/(16).

Thanks for clarifying.

So if that all checks out, it is likely win or go home for the Celtics.

A little different than the SF/Naz scenario last year when SF won but Naz wasn't quite eliminated.

I hearrd from a reliable source that regardless of the outcome, Marian will still be awarded a forfeit win per IHSA.
Affecting opponents Playoff Points +1
Then play in the Prep Bowl.
Not so sure about the Rochelle side.

Interesting! Thank you for sharing.

Wasn’t aware that would be the case…

Will the officially have a 10 game season in the record books then? Or just for playoff points they're opponents are getting the benefit. If they pull off the upset is it 2 playoff points?

9 games count per playoffs 10 per school records
