It's just usually stated by the player, I didn't realize crusader was poking fun at the process.
Always assume I am poking fun.
But I never expect you to poke fun at fellow south of Chicago brethren. That's what got me lol
I think the kid was being clever, but after seeing so many silly tributes with funny words about a school they’re about to leave so they can play for a competitor. Mr. Randolph teased all the way up to the last scene where he said he would be back.
Yea, except his was likely designed to be more a tease about the draft vs returning to Illinois. The Illini d line has just landed two huge recruits by keeping their two interior guys one more year. They will likely have the best d line in the big ten next year and possibly one of the best handful of d lines in the country.
Randolph was likely a late round pick and most assumed he had a good chance of declaring. Newton was quite possibly a second day of the draft pick and just chose to come back when most assumed he was gone for sure. Likely took a boatload of NIL money to keep newton and a smaller dump truck of money to keep Randolph from declaring for the draft, but it looks like that is what happened.
Not a bad deal to pocket well over six figures and giving yourself a chance to increase your draft stock by a couple rounds. It was likely the best decision for both the short and long term.
