Jca vs morris

6'3" or so.......Morris player had that ugly leg injury.....Remember the JCA kids went up to St Joes to see him while he was there.
Was that the nasty one where the Morris kid tried to limp off the field with a compound fracture? with every fan in the stadium yelling "go down"?

You only forgot 1990 in Joliet. Some kid named Alstott ran wild on a Wednesday.

Streaming has a lot to do with that too. It's great to have access to so many games, but it definitely takes away from attendance.
Attendance at all HS sporting events has gone off a cliff in the last 15 ish years.

The 2023 PC-JC semi was a real full stadium. 8500 was pretty close to the 10,000 or so they would get back in the early 2000s. I could see Saturday approaching 8500, though the 41 degree forecast high will probably keep it more in the 6-7k range.

I hope it's a crowd that big, but I don't see the casual fan attending. Between streaming and the game not likely to be close I wouldn't be surprised if it's under 5,000.

How does this years JC team compare to last years? Because from my understanding Last year Morris team was hands down superior to this years.
I believe this year's team is better in most ways. They lost a great D lineman, but I believe their line play is even better on both sides this year than a year ago. QB play improved from last year. Defense is really, really good.

Stable of running backs with some lightning and thunder. They lack the one big play threat in Grigsby, but he was dinged up and largely a nonfactor in last year's Morris game. Overall, most of the impact players in last year's quarterfinal victory over Morris are back this year.

That said, last year was a drubbing. But just about everything went right for JC that day. Even though JC's lines were dominant, I don't believe the teams were really 40 plus points apart.

I know Morris is better than earlier in the season and peaking right now. The metrics tell me JC favored by a fair amount. The many turnovers by MP today and only capitalizing on some is interesting. The Rochelle-Naz and SF-Sycamore results were interesting and all mounting evidence for why JC should be favored.

But this is a real rivalry and all those metrics pointing to JC being favored somehow make me more uneasy. Last year I expected a slugfest and we saw JC drive Morris off the line of scrimmage. This year the metrics tell us JC should be favored by a few scores. But just like last year and many years in this rivalry, I expect the actual on field production to not look anything like anyone projected. Hoping the Hilltoppers play their best game, they may need it.

Morris can be deceiving but this jca squad will be physically ready in the trenches against this Morris squad!! Next

I don’t see Morris winning this one but you never know. No one Gave them a snowballs chance in hell today. When was the last time they played at Memorial stadium for a playoff game? 1999?

I mean I can't disagree. My only real counterargument is to say that the 99 JC squad on paper was bigger, faster, stronger, and better at football than the 99 Morris squad was. And it came down to a late game TFL and missed FG as time expired for the team that was physically better to pull out a squeaker.

I hope this version's team understands that reality. If they both play their A games, yes I believe JC wins. But that 99 team did not play their A game against that Morris squad and it almost ended their season (and the revival of Joliet Catholic football that ensued because of that season).

Still don't understand the jet sweep call right into Goolsby on the play before the FG.

Koehler had a huge leg, but Valdivia was more accurate and should have been the one to take that kick.

Brother you just held Peoria to 8 points. At home. The same peoria that put 50 on Morris. Stop sandbagging.

Because the Hoffman kid had about 100yds on that play alone and it worked but a missed blocking assignment cost the game.

Agree #1 had the more accurate leg and should have been utilized
