The Illinois High School Association will take part in a roundtable discussion with leaders from IDPH & ISBE on Friday, July 24. We expect this meeting will provide important guidance on how the IHSA will proceed with fall sports. As a result, we have postponed the IHSA Board Meeting scheduled for July 22 until July 29.”

I'm praying IHSA comes to this meeting prepared and guns blazing. Demand an answer why club/youth sports are safe to play for months but school isn't. Don't take a non answer. If their answer is that it isn't safe, then all sports all ages anywhere needs to be cancelled by the state and be done with it. Let them tackle all the lawsuits from private entities. If it is safe, then let HS play and back the hell off.

And if they bring up liability issues, have counsel ready or bring a legal opinion to the table about how it's impossible to prove that a virus was contracted to a singular time and event. Ask IDPH if they will then be ready to take on tracing for the flu since we can then start proving viruses that are transmitted anywhere. If the IHSA job is to advocate for schools and sports, please do so here. Their actual livelihood as an organization financially depends on it. Get after it!
