Just about my favorite time on the calendar. Everyone is unbeaten. Everyone believes this their year. And everyone should.
As a writer I loved this day as much as any. The bands, the grills and the crowds - yep, just damn perfect for me.
My travels have taken me out of Illinois to Virginia but the feeling is still very much the same.
If you don’t get a chill tonight when your team takes the field or a tear and limo in your throat as a group of kids belt out a fabulous version of the anthem, seek help.
Tonight is about the kids as will the next 13 weeks will be as well. Don’t ever forget that. It’s why we do, what we do.
