Impact Player for Momence?
Momence junior QB Erick Castillo (5-foot-10, 190 pounds) is coming off an impressive sophomore season in 2023 as Castillo threw for over 2,000 yards and 22 passing touchdowns and was named as an all conference player last season.
Looking for a sleeper name to watch this fall for Momence? Momence junior OL/DL Nic Charbonneau is a key anchor on both sides of the lines and will again be asked to lead the line play on both sides of the football this fall.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2024 Momence
Momence is looking to build off a strong 9-2 record in 2023 as Momence made the Class 2A state playoff field and lost to Maroa Forsyth in second round action. Momence head coach Wayne Walker has posted a 34-39 overall record in 8 seasons and has led Momence to the IHSA state playoffs in three seasons.
The biggest question facing Momence this summer?
Can Momence reload at a few key spots and make a deeper run in the IHSA state playoffs in 2024? On paper, Momence welcomes back an impressive starting lineup (16 returning starters) loaded with experience including several key starters from a season ago. Look for Momence to retain the Vermillion Valley conference titlew and to again make a post-season run this fall.
