Finals predictions: Closest and Most lopsided title games

It’s funny the one game that could be competitive has the best team in the state.

On paper that game looks to have the best chance of being competitive. Maybe 5a too but I doubt it
why wouldn't 5a be competitive? didn't these two teams meet earlier this year? how much has changed since then?

1A - Althoff -28
I REALLY didn’t like the way Lena looked vs Hope’s spread last year. This is hope on steroids.

2A - Chicago Christian - 3
Knights are this years team of destiny

3A - Montini - 42
3a south is no bueno

4A - DePaul - 4
I know nothing on either team. 😉

5A - Naz -3
Best game of the weekend

6A - ESL -4
I REALLY want to pick the Vikings but just can’t.
I’ll set the total points at 87 for this one.

7A - MC -28
I think Lynch has grown quite the distain for Batavia’s “one town one team” motto in protest of private schools and doesn’t call the dogs off.
Bulldogs will never be able to hang with Mt Carmel until they open up their offense.

8A - Loyola - 17
I do love to see a program lose their HC and then go further the next year. But this one will be all Ramblers.
Good call on 2A 😉

I think it would be dope if we took the top 8 and crown 1 champion of the state. That would kill a lot of noise of who’s the “best”. Clearly all the teams that make it to this weekend are very deserving. Some more dominant than others but I would love to see a team like Althoff square off against the winner of 8a. 2a vs 7a…6a vs 3a. 5a vs 4a.. I think there would be a lot of surprises and a very competitive last man standing game…just my two cents..

Which game will will be the best?

Which one(s) will be a running clock?
So far..
1. None
2. All

The game that many (including myself) thought could be the closest with the most likely non 6A public champ was the biggest margin at 47.

There have been some great and competitive games between Public and Private this playoff season. LWE/LA, MC/Normal, Fenwick/DGN, DePaul/Coal City, Montini/Byron all were one possession games that went down to the end and I'm probably missing a couple more games. If Rochester didn't get upset early could they have beaten DePaul? Due to the seeding though these games happened in bracket play and seeding teams better would help that....I mean Whitney Young, who got destroyed by Iggy in the Prep Bowl, was the 7A #1 seed.....only reason they moved on to round 2 was because they played fellow CPS, a 4-5 Kenwood, in round 1. But how do we do this? Whitney was the only 9-0 team. You have to start factoring in Strength of Schedule. I'm sure we will own moan over that too but it's will better divide teams forced to play early on.

Byron/Montini literally came down to inches at the buzzer.

Althoff could not compete above 5A. We would win 1,2 and 4 this year. We'd play 3A tightly, but Montini would win, most likely. Would be competitive (relative term) against JCA/Naz.
