A good friend is coming to Evanston to cover the Buckeye game Saturday. He’s asking for food/tavern recs in the area and I’m not very familiar with the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Valley Lodge in downtown Wilmette. Grandpa's, Ten Ninety brew pub, and Meier's Tavern in Glenview. I don't disagree. Love their craft brews!Of those, Ten ninety is the best by far. Also check out The Oak in the Glen.

Also like OAK...and Yard House too! And Johnny's, Cafe Lucci, Hangar Two, Gusto (if you don't mind the much older clientele), North Branch (remember the original one on Waukegan just south of Glenview Road?) etc.
I used to go to Glenview House a lot back in the day when it was a softball bar. Since their makeover and upgrade, I'm not a big fan. I don't know how far back you go in Glenview, but a long-gone favorite dive bar of mine was the Sail Inn on Waukegan Road.
Lots to like in Glenview.
But, if you are looking for a real old-time tavern experience, you can't beat Grandpa's and Meier's.

If he's covering a game at "Dyche Stadium".. got drop down in the city and hit Candlelite for pizza!I don't disagree. Love their craft brews!
