Tyre Sampson was 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds. His family said the eighth-grader was a straight “A” student and looking forward to playing football for East St. Louis High School in the fall.

His father, Yarnell Sampson said Tyre fell in love with football at eight years old, and everyone called him “Big Tick.”

“He was doing his training videos. He started working out,” Yarnell Sampson said.

This is tragic and it should not have happened. I feel for the family. Terrible 😞

Nothing more tragic than a family having a day of fun to only lose a child. It reminds me of the young boy that died in the waterslide accident in Kansas City a few years ago.

Wow… it’s incredibly unsettling to be at a funeral where the parents are burying one of their children

No amount of money will smooth the pain

And at that dollar amount the likelihood of bankruptcy taking place in order to abscond the settlement is pretty high
