CS8 Playoffs Thread - Quarterfinals - 3 Left Alive

QND 34
ALAH 7
Final

Could have been worse for ALAH. QND left 21 pts on the board in 1st qtr. Had a punt return TD called back for a pretty suspect late holding call. Oh well...
Wyatt Mueller left game for QND with apparent elbow injury early 2nd Qtr. Did not return 2nd half. Would likely be listed as questionable for next week at this point. Would be a huge blow to QNDs overall makeup if Mueller cannot go against MF.

All.... SHG gets pounded. As I mentioned in another thread interesting play calling on SHG.... So with no multipier for the next two years SHG will be a large 3A or very small 4A should they make postseason play. Sigh small ball..... Ratsy

On the bright side...SHG State Champions in 2025 and 26!

All.... Hold on sir. Figuring out actual enrollment is a two year deal. Looking at past historical numbers the Cyclones will be on that bubble between 3A and 4A. I see them going 4A along with QND. It will be a different look for the Raiders in 2025 which Roamin' if he has time gearing up for Maroa next Saturday can speak about.... Ratsy

Almost no one in the U-High camp this year would've thought that this team would be favored to make it to the semifinals. The turnaround at U-High has made Brody Walworth one of the most respected coaches in the Bloomington-Normal area, and it's well deserved. The classes of '22-'24 for the Pioneers have also earned their spots of respect in the great turnaround. Outside of the obvious post season run, one of the most impressive statistics from the Pioneers is the roster, in 2021, Walworth began with 40 kids on the roster, and this year, he sits at around 95 players, with ~24 being freshmen.

I always love a good underdog... and U-High plays one of my favorite underdogs of this season this week. But, that said, I personally think U-High stands the better chance against Breese, or whomever, in the semi's. U-High's offense is obviously clicking when it needs to, and folks still aren't talking about it often. Which is a probably the best part of all this for Walworth and the U-High program. Let them sleep on you til you punch 'em right in the mouth on gameday.

Flashing back to the earliest days of the summer, U-High defeated Cahokia handily in the SIU 7on7 tournament, so they’re semi-familiar with each other. Almost every U-High player from that competition is still healthy, so that should be nice. Of course it was a while ago and when you add pads everything changes, but it at least helps U-High’s case proving that they have the capability to keep up with Cahokia, and perform well after long road trips.

Will certainly help the confidence... And as Ocean Alley told us... "It's all about confidence, baby. She's (U-High's) a confident lady"

Tell the boys to show out for the Central State this weekend, jthebro2! Can't wait to see this final score!

I'll be sweating it out pretty hard in Macon County. They've already got their reservations at state, their after party is already scheduled and advertised, and their thoughts on who they'd rather see in the semi's... Pray for us! 😇

There's also this proposal submitted by Williamsville on behalf of the Sangamo Conference --

Summary of Proposed Changes: Removes the 1.65 multiplier and the multiplier waiver for all schools. Replaced with enrollments of non-boundary schools to be the average enrollment of all public/boundaried high schools that are above that school’s enrollment and within a 30-mile radius of the school.• In three (3) class sports, non-boundaried schools will not move more than one class higher than their multiplied enrollment from the previous enrollment cycle.• In sports of four classes or more, non-boundaried schools will not move more than two classes higher than their multiplied enrollment from the previous enrollment cycle.• The multiplied enrollment (1.65) will only be used to determine the initial placement in the 2024-2025 school year.

Something similar was submitted last year but I don't know if it was voted on or withdrawn. I also have no clue as to whether it would have a shot at passing.

What in the world does Williamsville care about private schools?

They play in the closed-up Sangamo with little public schools and since 2010 have lost in the playoffs ONCE to a private school... in the state championship game.

Sadly, I’ll be playing in my own football game today, so I won’t even know the U-High score until well after the game is over. Hoping for an amazing surprise this evening when I open Channel1450 on X.

God is great, I made it out early. U-High leads 17-6 at half, and receives the second half kickoff. Cahokia’s only score came after U-High fumbled the ball on their own 10.
