Quick question:

Team 1 and Team 2 both are 6-1 in conference, yet, Team 1 beat Team 2 in the head to head matchup. Although they have the same conference record, would this make Team 1 the solo conference champs due to the H2H win?

It's a silly "everyone gets a trophy" rule. Ironically, two teams which qualify for the playoffs would be judged by their head to head record. So it doesn't makes sense why they dont apply the same stipulation at the conference level.

Co champs

Team 1 gets the conference champion for play-offs, for what that's worth.

That scenario will play out if both GW and York win game nine and they both have same conference record. GW wins H2H, but they share title?

Figure this one out...
There will in all likelyhood be a three way tie at the end of tomorrow night in the Upstate 8. Should they all win their scheduled games Glenbard East, Glenbard South and South Elgin will all finish 8-1 because Glenbard South beat South Elgin, South Elgin beat Glenbard East and Glenbard East beat Glenbard South all head to head. They do not play non conference games due to the number of teams in the U8 which will expand next sesson. So with all that said..
Who will be recognized as the Upstate 8 Champions in the IHSA records?

I am sure they have a tiebreaker but too lazy to look it up. Typically is would be point differential in the matchups involving the 3 tied teams. If that is the case it would be GE since they are a plus 11 while SE is a plus 2 and GS a minus 13. Otherwise they could use total plus minus for all games

They should call the upcoming U8 divisions Fox River and Salt Creek

If my reading of the IHSA Playoff Selection criteria is correct, the three way tie in the Upstate 8 will be broken by looking at points allowed in the head-to-head match-ups.

South Elgin will be the IHSA Conference Representative since they allowed 27 points in the games against Glenbard East and Glenbard South. Glenbard East allowed 31 points and Glenbard South allowed 41.

Believe it now way back in 1980 there was a three way tie between DeKalb, East Aurora and Larkin who all successfully won their non conference games but I believe, IIRC in U8 play East Aurora beat Larkin but lost to DeKalb and Larkin beat DeKalb. East and Larkin both went out in the Wednesday playoff games. DeKalb with QB Mike Mallory, the son of then NIU head coach Bill Mallory went all the way to the 4A title before losing to Althoff Catholic 10-7. I remember watching the game on WGN.
