I don't feel it's "homer"ism... these two teams have been playing week 1 for a few years, and this year's juniors and seniors were the last two year's sophomores. Palatine won soph games 33-7 and 33-6 the last two years - and that's with Dom Ball, Jaylen Williams, Parker Brault, Trey Widlowski and Ryan Donnely not being in those games because they were starting on varsity as sophomores. I know SCN had Plumb up on varsity (his younger brother was the soph QB last two years), but I think they're really gonna miss Surges.

Maybe its because Conant has a new head coach who says he's gonna get away from running 90% of the time? They're kind of a wildcard right now.

LP has been in rough shape for a while now. Conant has been doing slightly better. That's where my pick is coming from at least

No, Lake Park is not that bad. They have had 3 bad years in a row with coaching changes and with a drop in talent level. They finally have their coaching situation settled and a good senior class in place with about ten starters returning.
As PowerI66 said, a lot of people just see a program that has been down vs. a program that has been stable.
