The Pre-Season Prep Bowl Kick-off Classic Committee with the cooperation of Northern Illinois University will present a high school football extravaganza on Saturday, August 25th at Huskie Stadium was announced today by the Jim McHugh, coordinator of the event

This year’s contests will feature Two Chicago Catholic League Powers. Chicago Hope Academy 2017 IHSA State Playoff team against last year’s State IHSA Semi-finalist Chicago Mount Carmel in the first game beginning at 12:00. In the second game, Chicago East Suburban Power & IHSA 2017 Quarter Finalist Benet Academy plays Chicago Catholic Power & IHSA 2017 State Quarter Finalist St. Laurence at 3pm. The night game, will match Chicago Catholic League IHSA Semi-finalist Providence Catholic against its neighborhood rival Lockport Township in the very first meeting of the two football powerhouses at 6:00pm.

“Our goal is to give the opportunity of playing in a big venue to Chicago area student athletes while giving their families and high school football fans across the metropolitan area an opportunity to see quality football games and experience the thrill of being in a Major College Stadium.” said Jim McHugh. “We have to thank Sean Frazier, the Athletic Director of NIU for coming to our aid and offering the tremendous facilities at NIU Huskie Stadium for our games. In addition, NIU has graciously agreed to share one dollar of every ticket sold with TECHNOLOGY4PATRIOTS, a 501-3c Organization which helps wounded warriors with Career skill Development and PTS Therapy from their facility HEROES HALL in New Lenox, IL. What a tremendous gesture and lesson for our student athletes. Without the sacrifices of these Warriors we would not have the opportunity to play the game of football.”

Tickets for the games will be available beginning July 24, 2018 at 10am at the following TicketMaster Site. http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/040054F0EBFD56DE

Providence isn’t gonna be a powerhouse this year either. Only returning 6 starters on both side of the ball.

Based on their success over past 30 years, Providence is definitely a football powerhouse

They were a power for a 3 year stretch 15 years ago. Pretty mediocre since
I prefer to look at them like a powerhouse. Beat us worse than Providence ever did. We have 2 losses against either. The Lockport losses were much worse despite them not being successful in the playoffs those years. The PC losses came against Celtic teams that played for championships.

Go Porters! Get those playoff points!

I was referring to this years providence team. Don’t know about Lockport’s team this year. There are better match ups they could have chosen for a big venue like that. Maybe they did approach other schools and they said they didn’t want too. No offense to providence catholic. Yes they are a powerhouse. Just gonna be a down year in my opinion.
