Champ Champ for Althoff???

After the futbol team won 2A this weekend on the pitch, can the real football players follow suit and win 1A on the gridiron? So strange hearing the names Gomric, Ysursa and Myatt playing that other game and I know some of those boys would be starters.

Not bad for a little ol Catholic school in the 618!
Cool story bruh…..

I mean...is it really that improbable? They have a lock on recruiting in Metro East don't they? Is Alton Marquette even any competition?
Mater Dei, Father McGivney, which opened within the decade and has great new facilities. SLUH, CBC, DeSmet ... TOP-TIER prep schools. There is also Cardinal Ritter and Lutheran North, not to mention the all-girls Catholic academies like Nerix and non-seculars like John Burroughs. MANY choices for private education.

Good point...I wasn't considering cross the river options.

Although not private, I would imagine Althoff competes with East St. Louis for many of the same players as the Flyers seem to draw in players from all over the metro area.

It was said that Coach Schott brought more black kids to Belleville than the Bi-State bus. Austin is going to do the same - not to mention, lots of kids were crossing the river, passing Belleville, for schooling if they did not want to go to East Side.

I was born and raised in Belleville. College in Bloomington and Edwardsville. Single professional years in Wicker Park. My kids were born in Naperville. I raised my children in Palatine/Inverness - Pleasant Hill, to Plum Grove to Fremd. Spent 18 months in Waukesha then 28 months in Old Irving Park.

I CHOSE to move back to Southern Illinois - first a temporary place in Smithton with goats, cows and a donkey in my neighbor's backyard. My permanent home is in Sauget - a fine village, Exit 1 across the Poplar Street Bridge.

Maybe you just have not experienced much.

Lived in a couple of different towns in NW Illinois before moving to Belleville in 2000. Relocated to a very nice part of O'Fallon, Ill. in 2020, and don't plan on moving back north anytime soon.

As I was saying, people make strange choices.
