Byron/Montini in round 2

You knew this game was inevitable since last year. Just expected it to be later than the second round.

An earlier game in the playoffs, assuming good weather, could help Montini.

For what its worth, Cal Preps playoff prediction on a neutral site: Montini 24 - Byron 22.

BIg game second round games will be packed. There are not that many.

Sucks that it’s round 2, but seeding 1-32 wouldn’t necessarily change anything. Montini is 7-2, right in the middle of the 32 teams. If they are 9 in the north with the current seeding, they are likely 16, 17, 18 overall.

I had them at 6 or 7 in the north in my post this week. And then they won. That north bracket must’ve seen some big changes between Tuesday and Saturday.

There were some shake ups with the small schools week 8 and 9 that pushed some teams up into 3A.

We are talking about seeding them not based on record but on how good they are. Like NCAA March Madness.

Big plus for Montini getting to host this game. Think it’s a 7pt swing whoever is home for this game.

Byron / Montini will depend on how many points can you let Byron get. If Byron is kept at say 22 or 23 points in the game then it is anybody's game. If Byron gets more points than that then its Byron with the win.

How much has Montini improved this year compared to last?
Seems like they have at least slightly

Defense is better this year. Offense has two QBs. One is a senior and is steady but the Soph has unlimited potential and has a very high ceiling. He commited to Iowa State. They win most of their games with the defense.

It still comes down to limiting Considine on Byron. He is prolific and I think the most exciting RB to watch in IHSA football the last two years.

What if Byron gets 24?

The point is a game like this deserves to be in the semi's at least not round 2. This is why they need to seed all classes 1-32.
It is going to be sold out if it is played in August or November. Since there is no 1-32 seeding they were always going to play before ISU. If anything both teams might be healthier in round 2 than round 4

Agree to disagree, but I think you're in the minority on this one. Would last year's game have felt the same if it was in round 1 or 2? I don't think it would.

My dumb*ss is locked in for Michigan @ Indiana that day. Two schools I have no fandom for or affiliation with. I can’t believe it. I live less than a mile from Montini, but I’ll be 200 miles away.

Montini may as well pack it in once Byron hits 24.

Come on 4a fan. I understand you always have to get the last word in but don't make stupid comments. I think you know what I meant by my post without having to write a book about it.

Wouldn’t this game be in Byron? Oops, just realizes Montini is 9 seed so will be away. Love this!

Think Montini is on the road game 1 and Byron is at home game 1.

If both win, the game is at Montini.

Byron has had its best back for 2 games. He's healthy, driven and wants to put the team on his back and Montini will flood the side where #34 goes while the QB or odd side wing goes for large chunks of yardage away from where #34 goes!!! Im sure that Montini's coaches have this factored but regardless they will have shadow 34 with wolf/reaper leaving the backside weakend.
Byron 31-18
