Homewood-Flossmoor senior wide receiver Tyrice Richie (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) decided to end his recruiting process tonight and gave Northern Illinois University his verbal commitment.

"NIU made me feel like I had a home," Richie said moments after tweeting out his decision via his Twitter account. "I really loved the campus, academics and of course the football team during my college visit to NIU. I also looked into Miami of Ohio. Miami of Ohio is a great school and they have a great program but nothing compared or made me comfortable like NIU did so I committed."

Richie is now the ninth known in state verbal commitment for NIU in the Class of 2017. Richie joins the Huskies in-state class which also features Immaculate Conception S Jordan Rowell, St. Charles North OT Isaac Hawn, DeKalb WR Cole Tucker, Phillips DB Dexter Warren plus Morgan Park OLB Jawon Denton, Marmion Academy DT Weston Kramer, Mount Carmel LB Michael Kennedy and Romeoville RB Jordan Nettles.
