Agreed - we get get spoiled by the passion and knowledge of hometown high-school radio announcers and also jaded by the big-time production of the college and pro game. The IHSA is in a no-win situation trying to compete with those elements in broadcasting the championship games.
I know it isn't feasible, but I would love to see the IHSA do what the NCAA does for the Final 4 and that is incorporate a feed from each team's primary radio into the broadcast. In some cases, it would be more amateurish than the IHSA TV guys, but it sure would be entertaining.
Bottom line - be it radio or TV - please spare us all the cliches and coach-speak gibberish.
