Althoff…

Or...you have a senior rb who is arguable one of the top 2 or 3 players in school history, who has carried the team on his back all year, is a couple carries away from breaking multiple state records and you pull him so a soph rb can get a few garbage time touches?
the state record occurred in a 70-45 shootout by a player on the losing team. yes, going to break the record from a competitive shootout when you're boatracing a team is a shit move. not sure what going for 2 to get 50 had to do with him breaking any records but definitely goes to show what they were after, rubbing the heel on a 1a team when you're playing with what appears to be a handpicked allstar team

Or...your head coach acts like he's been there before and puts the younger kids in as a show of respect for those kids and the opponents.

Yeah, I usually defend playing hard to the end, not taking a knee just to punt, etc. But going for 2 in that position and then throwing the ball for a TD with your first stringers...give me a break. Embarrassing behavior.

Im not defending going for two. Where in my post did you read that?

I can get behind trying to break a record. That doesn’t explain the deep shot TD throw, but that kid is special and his name belongs in record books.

I will say that there was definitely a feeling that Althoff was trying to rub Lena’s nose in it. But it’s football and you play to the whistle and the final tick. My only concern would have been protecting Hill from a late shot or something because Althoff was definitely showboating and pissing them off.

Sorry dude, coming from a guy who said esl is an underachieving program, any football related critiques you have arent worth 2 rusty nickels.
They are. Should win it annually, but don't. Either way, Althoff has no class.

the "record chasing" was preceded by going for 2 to go to 50, and context is valuable. going for 2 at 48 is an indicator of poor sportmanship, which was followed by what you're defending. bit of an if/then here and taking a small logical leap to connect the two is all that's needed

Feeto says it best - this is the finals. Everyone is there for a reason. All other games had huge margins and the starters played until the end. Steven Brown got some touches, the #3 back. Others got in too - just maybe not every freshman or sophomore.
Yea I hate this crowd that comes out after a team is playing for state and up by, in their opinion, a big enough margin to let 2nd string guys in. If there is anyone the coach needs to do right by, it's the seniors that got him there. And he damn sure shouldn't be worried about how the other team feels.

Another view ... the sophomore QB is being recruited on both sides of the river and you want to keep him happy so he stays.

Why do you keep bringing up then going for 2? Im not defending that.

This is Fraizier's first four-year class. He inherited a crappy program and these kids turned it around.

Where is the outrage for the rest of the games with larger margins of victory?
going for 3 for 3 and possibly 4 for 4 on blowouts from unmultiplied privates schools could end up having disastrous consequences on the setup most of us know and love, with one more private guaranteed to win and two others heavily favored

because if you can't defend that, then the following touchdown is indefensible. simple if then, like i said.

I thought going for 2 was unnecessary. And probably the deep ball too.

Im also 100% ok with them giving dierre as many touches as he needed to break the records that were within reach.

The two aren't mutually exclusive

Hill ran in a pair of two-point conversions for 46 individual points, a state championship game record for all classes.

When you need to attract students too keep the doors open, some young man may want to match that feat. And Dierre deserved his chance to stamp his name in the books.

distasteful, and a springboard for a hard look at playoff structure this offseason, taking advantage of being unmultiplied to run up the score against an overmatched team for an individual record.

pretending that "you too could score 46 points in the state championship game" is even mentioned when recruiting kids, when you're saying "in the 2025 class we sent scholarship players to oregon, mizzou and boston college" is such a disingenuous way to defend this

You need to chill...you're beating this man up!

It would have been OK for Steven Brown to get those tallies? Again. MoV is mid for the day.
and you've conveniently ignored half my comments mentioning those being an issue. either you're too far in the bag to see them or just being disingenuous again, but none of those margin of victories were going for two twice in a blowout, going for garbage time tds with the ones, etc, for one player to pad stats

Hey Dierre, i know we rode you all year and we wouldn't be here without you. And you single handedly won us this game today. And I know you are a couple touches away from 3 state records but we are going to pull you for the sophomore. I think it's important we get him some carries here.

TALK ABOUT A DICK MOVE!

then tell them not to go for two so it doesn't look so bad lol

A school that produces someone dumb enough to say this probably should close.
