I'd say it's a by-product of the 1-32 seeding. Adds more travel, less agreements to Friday night games. Lower classes without 1-32 still have higher travel times anyway. Once the first round gravitates towards Saturday, no coach will give up an extra day of recovery and prep. Even if you played Friday night round one, your opponent may have played saturday, making this week's game a Saturday game. I actually think you'll see more Friday games next week with less teams if the drive times are manageable. With so many games this Saturday, each team has same recovery and prep time if they play Friday in the quarterfinals. HF/NC winner plays MS/Warren winner. Will Coach Inserra play HF or NC on Friday night if the Hawks get past Warren and lose a day of prep and recovery that HF or NC will get? That seems like an all-time low for the second round.
