Impact Player for Rochelle
Rochelle in 2025 no question will look to replace a very successful senior class that graduates this spring. The Hubs had a loaded starting lineup led by several multi-year starters and those graduation losses will be felt especially in the offensive line, defensive line and the secondary. Look for Rochelle to follow the lead of the senior class especially a core of two way starters led by senior TE/DE Brody Metzger along with senior OL/DL Markell Pogue plus senior RB/S Dylan Manning.
Looking for a sleeper name to watch for Rochelle? Keep an eye on Rochelle junior QB Van Gerber who will get a serious look at taking over the quarterback position this summer for Rochelle. Gerber did some nice things on the sophomore level in 2023 and also saw a bit of action as a backup in 2024. has a solid arm and physical tools to run the Hubs power option offense.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2025 Rochelle Hubs
Rochelle is yet another old school Class 5A/4A power program and has been for decades. Week in and week out look for Rochelle to battle all comers with a combination of a power option offense along with an athletic and speedy and hard hitting defense. Rochelle always plays fast and always plays physical and that has remained the same under former Hubs QB and now HC Kyle Kissack. The schedule is interesting and in many ways a challenge in 2025 starting in Week 1 against Geneseo along with Lena Winslow, Sycamore, Morris and on and on. If the Hubs can settle in at a handful of key spots this summer and find some needed depth...Rochelle can and will challenge for another conference title and a potential run in 5A/4A this post-season.
The biggest question facing Rochelle this summer?
Can Rochelle reload and get back into the IHSA postseason inn 2025? The Hubs and head coach Kyle Kissack has missed the IHSA state playoffs just once in his tenure (2019) and I don't see this program falling off anytime soon. What will be interesting to see is just how much of an impact the newly restructured IHSA private schools adjustments will have on the playoff road for the Hubs in 2025. Several former private school playoff opponents that always seem to be in the Hubs playoff path (Nazareth Academy/Wheaton St. Francis/St. Patrick/JCA) will most likely be moved up for the 2025 state playoff field....and I'm guessing no one in the greater Rochelle area would be disappojnted at all not seeing some of those Catholic school foes.
