Impact Player for Oak Lawn
Oak Lawn senior WR/S Luke Mahoney (6-foot-3. 190 pounds) is a long and lanky athlete who has a chance to play on Saturdays and a name that the Spartans will lean on this coming fall. Mahoney has been drawing increased recruiting looks and attention this summer from various D1 schools and several of those same schools will be looking harder at Mahoney's early senior season video this fall.
Looking for a sleeper name to watch for Oak Lawn? Oak Lawn senior SB/FB Alex Soto is a really nice running back who's capable of running inside or outside in the Spartan offense again this fall. Soto runs with good power and quickness and he also is capable of breaking tackles and runs hard after initial contact.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2025 Oak Lawn Spartans
Oak lawn and head coach Ryan Pattison is looking to bounce back from a rough 0-9 season in 2024 as the Spartans program is looking to string some wins this fall and get back in to the IHSA football playoff field for the first time since the 2009 season. Oak Lawn can look forward to a much more experienced team back this season with 18 returning starters back in the fold. The schedule is solid but no question has some winnable games for the Spartans in my opinion.
The biggest question facing Oak Lawn this summer?
Can the Spartans defense improve this summer and slow down opposing teams and a much better rate this fall? Oak Lawn last season was able to stay in several games and the Spartans offense put up some respectable numbers (207 points scored in 2024). Yet the Oak lawn defense was just ripped for a shockingly high 435 points last season or 48 points per game. If the Spartans defense can improve this summer, the offense should be strong again this fall and give the Oak Lawn Spartans a much better chance at success this season.
