Impact Player for Geneva
Geneva no question will need to do a considerable amount of reloading this summer after graduating an impressive senior class from the 2024 Class 6A state runner up team. However, the Vikings still have talent in the building and some key names to watch including Geneva junior WR Bennett Konkey along with Geneva senior OL Nick Elliott. Konkey was able to establish his game last fall despite being in a stacked Vikings receiver corps.
Looking for a sleeper name to watch from Geneva? Keep an eye on Geneva junior to be QB Ben Peterson who has a big arm and looked really impressive this off season at various camps and showcase events.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2025 Geneva Vikings
Geneva had a season to remember in 2024 and the Vikings made it to the Class 6A state title game. losing to East St. Louis in the state title game to end the season with a 12-2 record. Look for the Vikings and head coach Boone Thorgesen to reload this summer and to remain one of the top tier teams in the always strong DuKane conference this fall. Kep positions to replace include QB/OL/DL along with several additional skill positions that will need to step up this summer.
The biggest question facing Geneva this summer?
Can the Vikings reload at several key spots and remain at the top of the Dukane conference in 2025? The Vikings program arrow has been pointing up for the past 2-3 seasons in my opinion and despite the graduation losses, this program still looks to have talent and the ability to maintain it's positive momentum again this season. The Dukane conference is one of the top overall conferences in Illinois in my opinion and just surviving this gauntlet and makin g the IHSA state playoff field is an accomplishment. I'm looking at Geneva and thinking this team can go say 7-2/6-3 in 2025 and be a nice threat in the post-season.
