Will this be like trying to get a Taylor Swift concert summer ticket?

Not sure how this will turnout. I think it is a good idea but needs a little work.

Why do they have St. Francis in 8A? Unless they requested since it is close to home?

All.... I noticed that as well. The only thing I could conclude is St. Francis is only a half hour max away from West Aurora where the 8A schools are playing.

The way this tournament was set up was schools would play in their 2022 enrollment classification. That would mean a long trip for the (at that time 4A) Spartans to Springfield (Southeast H.S.) or next door Rochester a three hour road trip. Ratsy

Teams are more concenred with setting scrimmages up.

I will also add that there are not enough competitive teams in each class that will be willing to play 7on7.

Teams are also more concerned with summer Basketball and Baseball.

I would not say it is the wrong year to start this but they are doing it in the wrong month. For many schools, especially the small one that share athletes, June is usually designated for basketball and baseball camps, tournaments, etc., with only lifting and maybe individual skill work for football. Football is the only sport going in July so if they did it later in the summer they would maybe get more interest.

Um....football recruiting/college camps also a sorta big in June...

All.... Disappointing participation numbers overall so far with this event. At the moment Class 3A has only two and 6A three signed up. Ratsy

Nice spin but the real story is that this is not what the organizers had in mind when they developed it....the lack of teams in all 8 classes is highly disappointing.....and with that said I'll most likely be in Glenwood next Saturday lol
All.... Three QB names that I constantly hear about will be showcased although all were backups last season. Parker Gillespie (Rochester-Sr.) not a big kid but he is supposed to be next in line. The only issue with him is in 2022 Parker had over a thousand yards receiving. Likely to see him playing both positions during the season. Coach Leonard has rotated qb's before.

Levi Hanauer (SHG-Sr.) lightning quick and a good arm. Big shoes to fill.

Colten Knoedler (Chatham-Soph.) and what a football stud. Comes from a family of athletes. Big, strong, and can throw the ball. Played as a catcher for the Titans. He will be a major impact player for Chatham as a sophomore. I can't imagine how good he will be by his senior year. Ratsy

I guess you gotta start somewhere right? Will be interesting to see if this event grows next year or just dies off.

Luke Lehnen was a 3-year starter for Chatham at QB. The first year the Titans had a very small senior class and he took his lumps. Chatham was out in the first round of the playoffs. His second year, there was huge improvement and Chatham tied for the CS8 title with Rochester. Chatham looked to be heading to the quarter finals before giving up a last second long TD pass. In Luke's senior year, Chatham dominated the CS8, and they made the 6A semi's before losing to East St Louis. Knoedler's dad or uncle (not sure which) was a MLB catcher with the San Francisco Giants.

Parker Gillespie is built more like Hank Beatty than Keeton Reiss. Losing him entirely or mostly at WR is not ideal but the Rockets have more returning WR's this year than when Beatty was a senior. In that season, they struggled with developing a go-to target for Hank and Gillespie ended up leading in receiving yards as a sophomore.

Quincy should be fun to watch. Also curious to see if Springfield's Paul Hartman plays more at QB or WR. He is being recruited as a WR or TE but not sure if the Senators have a potential replacement for him at QB. I believe all 5 CS8 teams which made the playoffs in 2022 will have new QB's in 2023, although it's always hard to get info on Decatur Mac.

All.... Coach Hebb was briefly on the radio last Saturday talking Senator football. He was careful on what he said but two are vying for the qb position. I would be very surprised if QB Hartman isn't the one leading the team. Ratsy

All.... First post on this subject thread. Click and scroll down to "google doc." Chart is showing only eight teams. Like to see them put in the 7A squads. A tweet under social media on the main page by IHSFCA1 is where I found out they had combined 4, 5 and 6A. Ratsy

Starting this event the year teams can scrimmage legally is horrific timing.
