Impact Player for Metamora:
Senior OL/DL Ben Wallace (6-foot-5, 300 pounds) is a big and physical two way starter for the Redbirds who has been drawing steady recruiting attention this summer. Wallace will again be asked to anchor the Redbirds line play this season and look for Wallace to wind up playing his college football at the FCS level in college.
EDGY's Quick Take on the Metamora Redbirds:
The Redbirds (9-3) made the 2021 Class 5A state playoff field and also lost to Marion in opening round action. Metamora and head coach Jared Grebner will rely this season on a solid group of returning senior starters back this fall with varsity experience. The Redbirds biggest question will be can Metamora develop more overall numbers and depth this summer and make a run at the top of the Mid Illini and in Class 5A. Also the early season slate is rough for the Redbirds including opening on the road at Peoria, hosting LaSalle Peru then ar rival Washington in Week 3.
