Impact Player for Glenbard West
Senior WR/RB/DB Joey Pope (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) is a vital two way starter and performer for the Hilltoppers over the past year plus, and Pope will be asked to again be an impact player for Glenbard West. The Hilltoppers have some big time names here (Chris Terek) and some younger names on the rise (JuJu Ellens/Julian Ellens) yet if this Glenbard West tram plans a deep post-season tun, Joey Pope will play a vital role this season.
EDGY's Quick Take on the Glenbard West Hilltoppers
The Hilltoppers (8-3) made the 2021 Class 8A state playoff field and defeated Oswego in opening round action before losing to eventual state champion Lockport in the second round to end the season. Look for the Hilltoppers and head coach Chad Hetlet to reload this summer behind an experienced offense which brings back some serious speed in the skills while also welcoming back it's entire starting offensive line from the 2021 season. The biggest question facing the Hitters this summer? Can Glenbard West defense develop some less experienced newcomers who can make an immediate impact this season at a few key spots (DL/DB). Look for the Hilltoppers to be one of the top trams in a loaded West Suburban Silver race this fall and to also be state ranked this preseason.
