EDGYTIM's Projected 2021 Spring Central Suburban South Conference finish
Maine South
New Trier
Evanston
Glenbrook North
Glenbrook South
Niles West
So Who is The One Team That Could Surprise? Evanston
The Wildkits are always in contention in the South and will be again this coming spring season. Evanston and head coach Mike Burzawa however might just have the horses to challenge Maine South and New Trier for the Central Suburban South title. The Wildkits welcome back 17 returning starters including 9 on offense. Keep an eye on junior 4 star ranked LB/RB Sebastian Cheeks who already has multiple Power 5 offers along with senior OL/DL Zach Myers and junior WR Kamau Ranson.
Preseason Conference MVP?
Evanston junior LB Sebastian Cheeks
Cheeks is simply the best overall player and athlete in the conference if not the entire state of Illinois. Cheeks will no question draw a ton of college looks and attention this spring. Cheeks already has college ready physical size and tools, yet can he become a dominant player as well as becoming a vocal leader? Cheek on and off the field is a class act who still has a ton of upside and potential over the next year plus.
Sleeper Player to Watch?
Maine South senior QB Luke Leongas
Leongas is a terrific all around signal caller for the Hawks who will get one more shot at leading the Maine South offense this spring. Leonas, who played this past fall in Florida at Fort North Myers High School will have the opportunity and the supporting cast to make even more noise this spring. In many regards you can make a solid case for Leongas also to be considered a potential conference MVP candidate as well here.
Top 2021 Spring Conference Games?
Maine South at Evanston Week 2- A very good early showdown game in the Central Suburban South no question.
New Trier at Maine South Week 5- One of the best traditional rivalry games in the entire northern suburbs year in and year out.
Central Sub South vs Central Sub North Week 6- This is still one of the best Chicagoland rivalry games I've attended over the last several seasons. Here is hoping that fans will be allowed in for this one, and the overall community support for this game is always impressive.
