Biggest Question facing Vernon Hills this fall?
Can the Cougars carry over it's winning ways from the spring season this fall? Vernon Hills posted a perfect 5-0 record in the spring season and while they will need to reload in a handful of key spots this summer (QB/OL/RB/LB) Vernon Hills does have some strong returning starters with varsity experience. I'm looking for Vernon Hills to again challenge for the conference title in the CSL North and to also make a run at a state playoff berth this fall.
Impact Player for Vernon Hills:
Senior HB/LB Erik Rimas (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) is a big, strong and athletic two way starter to watch this fall. Rimas is one of a handful of experienced varsity starters back (along with WR/DB Jake Pieper) who will be asked to ramp up his leadership role this summer. Rimas can and will play at several spots this fall and if the Cougars are making post-season plans, look for Rimas to have a big fall season.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 5 @ Deerfield
Look for Deerfield to again be a challenger for the CSL North conference title along with the Cougars this fall. Vernon Hills beat Deerfield 19-6 in the spring season and the Warriors will be looking for payback. No question this will be a key game in determining the CSL North conference title in my opinion.
