Biggest Question facing Mt. Zion this fall?
Can the Braves make a deep run in the Apollo conference and in Class 5A this fall? Mt. Zion finished the spring season with a 4-1 record and was also state ranked according tp the Final Spring 2021 IHSA Football Coaches Top 10 Class 5A poll. Head coach Patrick Etherton welcomes back 16 returning starters (8 offense 8 defense) and a roster that will feature somwe talented and college potential names. Expectations will be high this fall for the Braves.
Impact Player for Mt. Zion:
Senior WR/DB Christian Keyhea. Keyhea has been a varsity starter and impact player for Mt. Zion the past handful of seasons and will again be asked to provide production and leadership once again on both sides of the football this coming fall.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 6 vs Effingham
The Braves lost to Effingham 34-21 during the spring season, and look for Mt. Zion to look towards getting some payback this fall against the Flaming Hearts. Both Mr. Zion and Effingham have been strong programs over the past handful of seasons and expect both programs to once again challenge in the Apollo and in the state wide polls.
