Biggest Question facing Lockport this fall?
Is it finally THE year for Lockport? Lockport and head coach George Czart has been making some vert positive steps since taking the football program over a handful of years ago. Lockport ended the spring season with a 4-2 record with losses to H-F and LWE and the Porters also bring back a ton of experience, returning starters and good overall numbers. Is this THE year for Lockport? I guess it depends on your definition of THE year...but this Porters team I feel has a real shot at a state playoff berth and this will also be a team to challenge the upper tier of the SWS Blue this fall.
Impact Player for Lockport?
Senior RB Ty Schultz is a throwback type of runner who looks to punish all oncoming defenders. Schultz also has terrific speed and gets great separation once he hits his downfield speed. The offense will be capable of mixing up run and pass this fall, yet having that game breaking home run threat is huge and Schultz will be ready for the task this fall.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 4 @ Homewood Flossmoor
The Porters suffered a spring Week 1 41-14 loss to the Vikings and the Porters just did not play well. Look for the Porters to have the Vikings full attention this fall and a win here for Lockport would be a terrific early SWS Blue warning shot to the rest of the conference for the remainder of the regular season. Lockport will also need to get out of the gates well early and they could very well be 3-0 entering the H-F showdown.
