For those of you wanting everyone to make the playoffs or to expand the playoffs there were 23 one score games across all 8 classes out of 128 total games.

Frankly, I would like to see the 1 v 32 set up in all classes as the &A and *A have their brackets structured.
Very much agree. IHSA gave the excuse of high gas prices for not having the rest of the classes seeded 1-32 but Morris is traveling to Centralia for round 2 Coal City is going to Carterville, and even with 1-32 Collinsville is coming up to BR.

You noticed that as well! The IHSA will claim those are isolated moments. However, the occurrances of extensive travel would be minimal if one looks at the current brackets.

would be interested to see what the travel would have looked like with all classes seeded 1-32.

5-8A only for 1-32. As CPS and Chicago teams or any northern team enters the small school field we legit will be seeing some wild mileage buildup.

Why is that an issue but when southern teams have to come north then no one complains?

For 1A-4A there are a total of 20 teams that I would consider far north or Chicago out of 128 teams.

Win more games and the mileage doesn’t add up. Then again, where is Hyde Park playing next week? If there was a 1-32 seeding, they still would’ve played Johnsburg or Norridge.

I agree for two reasons, although it’s not a home run to me as there would be more extreme travel possibilities which would burden those schools. I like playing different teams and you get less of that in the north/south brackets. Also, some years one of the brackets is much better than the other and you get poor championship games.

Here are two extreme travel possibilities from this year if 1-32 had been universally used: 4A Richmond Burton vs Carterville (391 miles) and 5A Rockford Boylan vs Marion (367 miles).

Exactly! And if it’s truly a problem for fuel costs, they should gas up when they get an hour south of the collar counties and again before they enter Chicagoland in their return trip back. The stance of chicago773 is so self centered, he forgot the southern teams travel as well. Never hear Edwardsville and East St. Louis complaining.
LA is traveling over 300 miles this week! Playing new teams and traveling are part of the playoff fun!
exactly!

Agree, although the Rochester regular season trek to Wilmette last year was a bit of a let down!
It was. But how cool it was to get to see another program, it's facilities, fan base, etc? That, and LA is 8A and we are 4A. But no one else would play them or us in our respective areas. Chicago Kennedy (1566 students) wouldn't play them. They had an open week.

Didn’t Maroa pass on the chance to make the trip to Rochester?

What? I said 1-32 for all except 1-4A (aren't southern schools in 5-8A?) ....big schools = bigger budgets in many cases compared to a small school.

Yes. They didn’t want to travel an hour to play two classes up. So we traveled 3+ hours to play 4 classes up. It was a great learning experience which we gained and Maroa missed out on.
I have to ask. Just what did you learn and what did Maroa miss out on? From what I saw it was a complete beat down. Maroa could of learned the exact same lesson. Just saying. 👍

I am OK with Rita playing an 8-1 tough Prospect team in R2 because that's how the 1-32 seeding played out.

If we were back in Quads, I'd imagine:

R1: 7-2 Rita @ 9-0 MC

R1: 8-1 WN @ 8-1 SCTN. I know Batavia's in there but you all get the idea. LOL.

Well, it IS the IHSA don't ya' know.

Every matchup is a learning experience. Of the 8 championship seasons Rochester has, only 3 times did they win their conference. Rochester is 8-0 in championship games. So, it seems they learn with every, game win or lose.

And what I responded was, win more games and you won't have to travel. I then gave the example of Hyde Park and why it wouldn't matter. So, all your comment indicated was complaining about the North having to travel while ignoring the South who actually wants to travel and play other teams. Then again, I'm sure the North would feel underrepresented when an SHG v Rochester final occurs or such as 2015 and 16 when and Althoff and Rochester final would have been better than the actual final. And before you respond, no one in the South complains when the 7A and 8A heavy northern teams are regulars in the final. We just like the best teams in the final. Bracketing by geography prevents that from happening. Frankly, I hated to see a powerful Coal City go down in 2019 and leave Richmond Burton with a less than desirable Murphysboro as the final opponent. Had the CPS strike not occurred, Rochester would've faced Richmond Burton in the 4A final and it would've been a much better game than the 5A matchup as they terrorized an overrated St. Rita who had been 7A the prior decade.
