What does every1 think about the new bats?

Spoken like a former pitcher....LOL

I saw the Lemont/JCA game this past Saturday. It's early, but I didn't see many balls hit hard. The ball does not seem to jump off the bat as it did in prior years. Also, both starting pitchers are signed with IL (Jay for Lemont and Duchene for JCA), so the hitters were facing quality pitching. But, there is a noticable difference.

The coach for Oak Forest was scouting the game and sitting by us. He was mentioning how when a batter is jammed or doesn't catch it on the barrel is when you will see the biggest difference. You may also see less errors, because balls will not be consistently hit as hard.

As an umpire I love them. The games are going to be quicker, and the kids will actually have to learn how to hit not just swing.
