Please give it up for the 2021 Taft Lady Eagles Varsity team! This squad right here has rewritten the history books at Taft High School and became the 2nd CPS team to ever reach the Super Sectionals or Elite 8 in Illinois. They finished their season on Monday with a loss to the number 1 team in Illinois, Marist High School. Marist is also ranked #10 in the NATION. Our Lady Eagles played a record 38 games and finished the season 28-10.
At the beginning of the season I told this team our program needs to take a step forward. Needless to say they answered in a big way. They went on to win the City Championship, an IHSA Regional Championship, and an IHSA Sectional Championship. They did this when many thought we could not. They have raised the bar and expectation level for Taft Softball. We are here to try and compete at the highest level. This team never over-achieved, but they actually played to their full potential. This group did not play for their parents. They did not play to try and please someone else. They did not play just because they wanted something to do. They played for their team. They played with smiles on their faces and had fun doing so. They played for TAFT and they played with PURPOSE!
Thank you ladies for accepting the challenge and for understanding that pressure is a privilege! You have now become the measuring stick for all future teams at TAFT!
