Belleville east vs Maine south

I think it comes down to who can stop who. Both have crazy good offenses. Maine south has proven to have the better defense.

Let me be the first to welcome the people of Belleville to Park Ridge! There are plenty of sit down/bar restaurants in Uptown Park Ridge if you are looking for food. Also for a quick bite there is Tony's Deli on Northwest Highway and The Sandlot on Touhy. All are located under 10 minutes from MS. Looking forward to Friday!!

Paradise Pup in Des Plaines, about 2 miles from Maine South. Thank me later.

7-2 team down by STL with big line and 5-6 explosive skill players, clear with Moody opening Friday's game returning a 80 yd kickoff vs East Aurora and winning by 70 pts (and giving up 0). BOOM. Their QB Vinson ran for 2 and threw for 3 TDs, RB Coleman was huge again (and they also have a stud RB Boyd), and Fluker got a TD on a punt and a reception. BE DEF had 3 turnovers in 1st half plus a TD. Beyond that, BE beat LWW early in the season, but barely lost to Edwardsville 49-45 (who beat W Aurora 1st round 35-14 and only lost to ESL 27-15). WR Clark, Waller and Spears are the other explosive players that are easy to find on the field.

This should be the BEST GAME TO WATCH in the 2nd Round of the 8A playoffs!

Food - my office was at 999 E Touhy for years, right by MS. I have insight here.

Burrito/Tacos - https://www.lasasadas.com/ - my reigning world heavyweight champion burrito.

Lobster Roll - https://www.bostonfishmkt.com/ - fantastic!!!

Beef Sandwich / Sausages / Hot Dogs - http://www.buona.com/

Rosemont Entertainment District - https://rosemont.com/where-to-eat/ - I like Park Tavern but Belleville folks may want to see what an operational Hoffbrauhos is like. GREAT Shopping too.

Steakhouses - take your pick. Harry Carey, Gibsons, Morton's, Fogo, Capital Grille, McCormack and Schmicks to name a few.

Mel’s Craft BBQ in Park Ridge is solid for smoked meats, if you go beyond MS4EVERs Sandlot recommendation (their Two n Two rivals Au Cheval without the wait) or in Rosemont per Crusader of 90, they have the best array / easiest places to get a seat / dine / drink in our area for all tastes.

And a fancy-ass parking garage at Rosemont... signage tells you if there is parking in that row. That will wow Bellevillians.

Their going up the night before so they should be fine on that part
I have a theory on this ... no facts ... no confirmation, just a theory based on what I have observed during the high school basketball state tournaments.
I googled driving distance from high school to high school and it's 300 miles.
I drove a school bus for 12 years and took many groups on trips, including some that were several hundred miles.I can say that a bus filled with students is not averaging more than 50 miles per hour.
So, right from the top, your trips is a minimum of 6 hours. And I though I never drove a bus from Maine South to Belleville East, I suspect there will for sure be stoppage at a McDonalds/Burger King/Wendy's type for bathroom break and something to eat.
The bus also doesn't want to. get to a 7 p.m. game at 6:55 p.m. So, assume it's targeting a 6 p.m. arrival which gives some cushion for traffic.
That requires leaving the school at noon.
Now, this happens in high school basketball all the time, and I think that Belleville East will do something similar in order to keep the student fans as safe as possible.
That is, if you are a Belleville East student and want to go to the game, you must buy a game ticket and bus ticket at Belleville East, and that will entitle you to leave school at noon.
If you don't have a ticket and a bus ticket, then you remain at school until dismissal (2:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., I don't know,) and it doesn't matter. There's no way to be at school the full day and make the game.
This prevents teenagers from loading up their car and doing maybe not entirely following safe driving practices in racing to the game. It also keeps students from attempting to drive home starting at let's say 10. p.m. and hoping to arrive home sometime around 4 a.m..?
That's the best way I have seen to keep the student fans safe on such a game night.
If the game is on Saturday, regardless of the kickoff time, students could drive by themselves and watch the game and then drive themselves home, which from the school's point of view and probably parents' point of view, is not the safest choice.
In high school basketball, they do this all the time. I laugh watching the Thursday and Friday afternoon games when the TV announcer talks about the amazing student turnout for the game, never once mentioning that the students' choices were to leave school early on the bus and go to the game, or stay at school for the full day.
Anyway, again, I have zero proof that this is the method behind Belleville East's decision (the road team decided game day and time, and if no agreement, it's always at 1 p.m. I believe on Saturday.
But if this was Belleville East's thinking behind their decision to play on Friday, I give that school credit for thinking student safety first.
This, by the way, has nothing to do with getting the players to the game. In basketball state tourney, the players always arrive a day early and according to post here, Belleville East will arrive on Thursday.

Well, if you're gonna be at Maine South.. just head east on Devon and you'll hit Superdawg.

I still can't get over Park Ridge with lots of bars now.. mostly dry during my childhood then it was just Bailey's for years..
And Baileys had no televisions, so people wouldn’t sit around the bar watching games. As I learned on an early date with Mrs Og. I knew there was a reason I never spent much time in Park Ridge back in the day.

Las Asadas closes pretty early. If you really need a burrito after the game there's a TBK at Harlem & Higgins that's open very late.

And may I say.. all this conversation would be moot if Wallys Gyros was still in business
