I'll keep working my way back to you babe (CPL Football), with a burning love inside (who doesn't have it?). Yeah I'm working my way back to you babe, with a happiness that died (why did my team lose last week, ughhhh). I let it get away, do-do, do-do-do, been paying every day (unless I get in for free!).
No better way to get week 4 rolling than with a classic from the 4 Seasons (also my favorite hotel chain!). This week, we will spotlight the Red West and Red Southeast conferences.
Red West Matchups
Kennedy Crusaders vs. Raby Raiders: Thursday, 7:15 at Lane
Well you wanna know what moves my soul(not the Lane concession stand) and what ticks inside of my brain (why is there a light out in the scoreboard?). But I've got this need I just can't control and now it's driving me insane (oh come on, why are the bathrooms out of order with trash bags over the stalls again!), I can't take it....Ow, because I'm Hungry for those good things baby (Thursday CPL Football), hungry through and through (where is a Gately dog when I need one), hungry for that sweet life baby with a real fine game like you! Love me some Paul Revere and the Raiders. Especially when they perform in Revolutionary War soldier outfits. Take the Raiders!!!
North Lawndale Phoenix vs. Little Village Phoenix: Saturday, 1:00 at Westinghouse
Baby...I can't go through this again (no bleachers on the home side, come on!), I don't need to go down more than I've already been (we can't keep falling behind by 40!), just like a wildfire, you're running all over town (yeah, to get to the House for a 1:00 start!), as much as you burn me baby (hot turf, ughhh), I should be ashes by now! Listen to country singer LeeAnn Womack and rise from the ashes!!! Take the Phoenix!!!! Who cares if they are both the Phoenix, someone has to win!
Crane Cougars at Noble Bulls Prep Bulls: Saturday, 1:00 at Orr
When you're alone (never alone at a CPL game), you ask yourself, what are you searching for (the damn concession stand!)? Deep in the night (or at 1:00), a dream is born, one that you can't ignore...If you think you can find the passion (um, duhhh, it'shot CPL action) and you're ready to take a chance (I may sit in the front row today), if you really believe you can make it (through traffic), then the power is in your own hands (hopefully there is no power outage at the game, it could easily happen)...It's the moment of truth, you're giving it all (CPL, duh!), standing alone, willing to fall (so soft, falling without being tackled), get up and prove it (fight back!!!!), get up and show them who you are (ID at the gates please), it's the moment of truth, it's all on the line (bring out the kicker from 45), this is the place, this is the time (field goal to win it all), waited forever (long line at the game), it's now or it's never, nothing can stop you now (other than a bad snap, a bad hold, a bad wind, a good rush, or a shank off the foot)..This was the first song on the Karate Kid soundtrack...take the Crane Kicks!
Lincoln Park Lions vs. Payton Grizzlies: Saturday, 4:00 at Lane
One thing, I don't know why (what the heck was that call and why was there a 18 yard holding penalty), it doesn't even matter how hard you try(to explain that call, yeah don't even try), keep that in mind I designed this rhyme to explain in due time (good lord, another light just blew in the scoreboard, now we still can't tell the time)...I kept everything inside and even though I tried (still can't go to the bathroom, no stalls open), it all fell apart (I can't enjoy the game when I have to go to the bathroom), what it meant to me eventually be a memory of the time when I tried so hard! Listen to Linkin Park and take the Lions.
Red Southeast Matchups
Corliss Trojans vs. CVS Cavaliers: Saturday, 1:00 at Eckersall
And I was singing (the national anthem, it's a classic at Eckersall!), bye bye Miss American Pie (Now a cherry or apple pie stand at a CPL game is a fantastic idea), drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry (thank god Eckersall now has turf), and good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye (ummmmm, sir there are no outside beverages allowed at the game even though we have no beverages inside the game to sell you!), singing this will be the day that I die (CPL football is the way to go out)! Hopefully my Chevy wasn't a Cavalier because I'm taking Corliss!
Dyett Eagles vs. Julian Jaguars: Saturday, 4:00 at Gately
I'm on a diet and it sucks, so take Julian (no song is needed)!
Gary Comer Catamounts vs. Sarah Goode Knights: Saturday, 4:00 at Eckersall
But how do you wait for heaven (CPL football is heaven, just not at Eckersall, that's more like hell with everything closed), and who has that much time (we do because the clock operator gave us more time), and how do you keep your feet on the ground when you know(because I'm jumping for joy) that you were born, you were born to fly(just like kickoffs that go to the 30). Sara Evans sings that song, I think is Sara is Good, so I will take Sarah Goode.
Carver Challengers vs. South Shore Tars: Saturday, 7:15 at Gately
I got my toes in the water(ugh is that the puddle from the rain storm?), ____ in the sand (why is there all this sand on the bleachers), not a worry in the world (I'm worried because when this game is over, no CPL football for 5 days), cold beer in my hand (no alcohol allowed at Gately but at least we got the DOGS!!!!), life is good today, life is good today (any day with CPL football is a good day). Zac Brown is sitting on the shore, unfortunately when the shore is made of Tar, you get stuck. I like a challenge, so take Carver!
