Congratulations to the 11 CCL/ESCC teams moving on to the second round. Let's get 10 into the Quarterfinals. With the 2022 Holy War II happening in New Lenox Saturday, 10 is the max that can move on. I need 10 to move on. The site is lovely during those type of weeks and pump those threads right into my veins.

Welcome to our Prep Bowl playoff teams, giving us a total of 12 games for an available 12 points. Thank you to these players, coaches and programs playing for honor, tradition, love of the game, upholding grandfather clauses and heck, get yourself some more video for your futures while playing for those other important concerns.

Remember to get your LEO/DLS picks in before Thursday 6pm if you want a chance at that point.

Are any of these games on YouTube or are broadcast via the internet by the in house school system. The NFHS Network picture sucks.

Crappy part about the playoffs is if your school streams the game live, the IHSA charges them a hefty fee. You can stream the regular season games at no charge (I believe) but the playoffs cost you, and the higher the round the higher the fee. I think BR had to pay like a grand to stream the MC/BR quarters last season. IHSA also gets most of the gate for these games. 😡. NFHS has exclusive rights to playoff games.

This is a lot of points. York's Fitzgerald previously coached at Marist. Heart wins over head on this one.

Edwardsville 27
Even w a private jet, I think the Ramblers start out slow on the road and win handily, but not by four TDS.

Mount Carmel -32
Again, ton of points, but I think DGS will be on the field w a speed and tenacity they haven't seen all year. Lay the points despite injury rumors for the Caravan. 35-0 final

Brother Rice -16

Prospect 7

Wauconda 17
Black Panthers and the pts

Grayslake Central 29.
Iggy allowed Deerfield a backdoor cover last week which cost me a perfect 13/13. Shame on me once, not twice.

Sycamore -21. Last week both teams trounced CPS schools...which showed us nothing.

Boylan 19
Road dog beats Roadrunner

Joliet Catholic Academy -7

Apparently Gambletron has been hanging out at McNally's all week with these picks. Someone needs to dry that thing out.
York covers, Ed'ville covers, DGN covers (but scores w/o crossing the 50), BR over Collinsville, Prospect (now the machine smells like Fat Johnnie's), ND, Grayslake Downtown, CoM covers, Naz, PC in a shocker, SP, DLS.

As @refref01 did, I too will plead my case to the committee and provide proof. I was unaware the Prep Bowl playoff between DLS and Leo was being played Thursday and I think most reasonable fans outside of the DLS and LEO base also had no clue. My main reason, if you go back to my picks over the weeks, I’ve always taken DLS with the comment “C’mon Marty” for the old MC great. I rest my case.....that was just for entertainment reasons, I’ll take the one stroke penalty but I’m taking the magnet off the fridge for 24 hours! Here ya go

York +6. Undefeated #4 team in the State getting points? I’ll take it, and probably regret it as I did last week with NN getting 9.

Ed’s +27. Long ride and a banged up LA team playing a team that is always more then respectable and giving 27? Sold. LA by 24.

DGN +32.....Caravan is still banged up, injuries are part of the game but seem to be happening to the Caravan all at once, especially on offense. But defense is all healthy, I think, and have been phenomenal so I think MC defense will handle DGN offense and MC offense will still be more then capable of scoring. DGN is good and at home, and will cross the 50 a few times, but like MC by 21, not 32.

BR -16. Kudos to Collinsville for beating BB last week, a team I had knocking BR out of the playoffs in my bracket this week. I had the LWE game on my mind when filling it out. I think BR at home with a possible rematch with the Caravan possible, or they will at least know by kickoff, wins by 3 scores. Long ride for Collinsville who got their prize last week.

Prospect +7....I’m taking the points on this and I have a feeling they win outright at home without the points. See my post in the SR/Prospect thread for my reasoning.

Waconda +17. I like ND, especially since @eireog has become one of my favorite posters on this site, he’s loyal to the Dons, informative and not cruel when in disagreements, but ND isn’t really explosive...I know nothing about Waconda but they made it to round 2 so they can’t be too bad. I like ND by 14. High winds this weekend will make a FG hard.

Grays + 29....same as Waconda, I know nothing but they made it to round 2 and that’s a lot of points for Iggy to defend.

Sycamore -21. Great bounce back season for our Carmelite
Brothers, McKie is making a difference, but they fall this week to a top seed.

Rockford Boylan +16. RB always has a good program and I really like them with 16 points.

JCA -7.....I’ll take Jaws and his big game experience over the rookie, but damn impressive, PC coach. JC by 14.

Marian +8....Marian had like 3 legit D1 players....they just need a better supporting cast to get back on track. I like their speed vs Pats so I’ll happily take the 8 points.

And....I think Marty and DLS beats Leo 28-14.....😀

I THINK it's not quite that high, unless it's gone way up in the last 3 years, it was like half of that for the quarter final round 3-4 years back. But, even at a grand it's worth it to a lot people who couldn't watch in person anyway. I would certainly contribute my fair share or more to get to see a JCA playoff game. : ) Money well spent.

I'd gladly pay a buck or 2 for a school-produced Youtube stream instead of the dumpster fire that is NFHS. (I think Youtube has a function for paywalling a stream). Hoping that money would go towards offsetting the fee they have to pay to either NFHS or IHSA. I was told the MC/BR quarterfinal game last year had in excess of 3,000 viewing so I think it would help to charge a small fee.

I know people really like BRTV but there are lots of great streams out there that deserve credit. Just from what I've seen personally: Evanston, MS, Collinsville, MC, JCA, and SHG. They are all at least as good as BRTV in my view. I know there are many more that I haven't seen/am forgetting.

NFHS should be arrested for charging people to watch games on their servers such as the BR-Jacobs game last week. It was terrible. The on-screen scoreboard was covering up the plays. Cameraman sleeping. There was a sizeable period of time where about 1/3 of what should be on the right side of the screen was appearing on the left. I mean, a total joke.

I don’t think they use a cameraman I think they just use that motion camera. It’s horrible. I turned on the BR game last week and saw that split screen and turned it off. That was a new low for them

That BRTV stream of the MC/BR quarterfinal game last year definitely broke a record people live streaming. Chances are I’m completely wrong here but I thought it was close to 19,000. Does that sound absurd?

Hard to say. There's 27k views on that video right now almost a year after the game. You could be right. Just went through some old texts with my buddy from that night and he said the highest number of viewers he saw was 5.5k. Which, even if it was "only" 5.5k, would be stellar. The most number of viewers you'll see on these high school streams in the regular season, for example, is a few hundred tops.

The kids at BRTV do a wonderful job. Quality is always above and beyond.
