I believe the Mustangs are visiting the Caravan Week 2 of the '25 season which is considered a "non-conference" game. Is there a possibility that these teams could play each other again in the '25 regular season if both teams earn 2nd place in their respective CCL conferences from the '24 season?

I don't know much about how these inter/intra conference games are scheduled, but I was under the impression that the 1st place Blue team faces the 1st place Green team, 2nd place Blue plays 2nd place Green, and so on. Now, that'd be something. Anyone in the know?

The teams are slotted through the 25 season. Then readjusted.

Ok. So, aside from Week 1 Sandburg (contract ends this year), Rita will face same opponents as this year. Thanks!
I kind of view it similar to how I figure out when Memorial and Labor Day fall. Reverse alphabetically.

The 2 year periods are opposite each other.
If the IHSA 2 year period ends after 2024
then
the CCL 2 year period ends after 2025.

Non conference games depend on who they are with.

P.S. if I'm wrong, try not to pop my reality balloon.

MC and LA Fresh and Soph teams are playing each other twice this season, a home and away. With MC playing Hun and LA playing ESL they had to find there another opponents for week 1 and both had difficulty finding teams that want to play MC and LA so they agreed to play twice with the first game obviously not counting towards the conference Champs. I'm curious is a similar situation would happen on Varsity if you could do the same. If I were Rita I would re-up that contract with Sandburg, it's hard to find a quality opponent in non conference that's willing to play top CCL teams and have Fresh and Soph teams too.

I do agree with Rita playing Sandburg again, although I'd love to see a DuKane opponent for Week 1.

It's a great conference with several 7A schools that Rita could matchup with.

Sandburg scheduling that game and renewing that contract is a bit like the fox being invited in the hen house. BUT if they feel they can beat St. Rita at least once in the next two seasons then they should attempt to do what Howard Schnellenberger did in the early 80s with Miami when he put a fence around South Florida and kept all of those recruits home. Led to 5 national titles in a 20 year period.

Can Sandburg do that with Orland Park? Hard to say, but it starts with beating the premier CCL programs that get top talent from the Orland area. If you can start beating those teams it would help your cause to get kids to go to your school.

Obviously schooling decisions are made for other reasons than football, but it can't hurt to be good at football if you are a public school program in the south suburbs.
