Awodiran, who now is approaching 20 offers this spring visited Illinois on Saturday and was able to meet the new Illini coaches in person including Lovie Smith.
"Illinois moved way up in my book after I had a chance to meet the new Illinois coaches. It was my first face to face meeting with Lovie Smith and it was pretty awesome. It was just sort of surreal meeting the former coach of the Bears. It was also amazing to have Lovie Smith talking to me and showing a genuine interest in me. I just couldn't help but think about watching this man when I was a little kid coaching the Bears."
"I'm also really impressed with the overall knowledge level the new staff has on the linebacker position. Between Coach Smith, Coach Nickerson and Coach McGargile Illinois just has a collection of some great defensive minds. Several of the new Illinois coaches have serious NFL ties and experience. It's a huge plus for Illinois having such great coaches with an NFL background. If anyone can help get you to the next level it's those coaches."
"I'm just looking forward to the spring evaluation and getting a chance to workout for some new coaches. Syracuse is planning to be in school on Monday along with a few other schools according to my head coach."

EDGY's Thoughts on Micah Awodiran: No question to me that Awodiran has to be a top priority for Illinois in this class. With 4 of the Top 5 in-state names already verbally committed the Illini need to get going sooner rather than later. Awodiran no question was impressed with the new Illinois coaches but to be fair Micah has been very complimentary to about every schools he's been in touch with so far so....
