Opening for coaches.

Wow been hoping this was coming! Haven't seen any official word but the Knight faithful will take it!

I don't think it's that bad or has to do with LWE. They just want to win and get to playoffs. Should be making playoffs with the talent there. Lot of issues- maybe being more open to allowing kids to be kids- have a life outside of football, playing other sports consistently, retaining asst coaches (huge issue has it has been a revolving door the past few years, I wonder why).

Hard to say. The "Knights Faithful" are a difficult bunch with a "win now" mentality due to the success at Lincoln-Way East.
Difficult to coach there with 1000 coaches in the stands.
Amazing handle. Doug Simpson huh, “Big Man on Campus”! 😀😀

I live in the district and have been told there's an emphasis on hiring young (cheap) teachers. Bringing in quality experienced coaches may be difficult.
and it's happening all over the state. Everything is about money and education is no different.

Don’t treat a HS coaching hire as an NCAA coaching recruitment. As far as hiring young “cheap” teachers and coaches at Lincoln-Way please explain. You do have an aging workforce in general and COVID has taken the desire to continue from those with “seniority” retiring. I would gather this is a universal issue in the state as well. LWC is a nice gig and should draw an audience to fill the position.

My opinion; it's a good job as long as you make the playoffs at least every other year.

Please explain this statement Funkychicken79.
I had an AD tell me that many schools that are hiring right now are looking towards younger coaches that are lower on the pay scale. In certain cases they may look past it for the HC position but it 100% comes into play for assistant coaches. This AD is at a school that would be considered a destination and is getting great candidates for open positions but they cant offer them due to money. This isn’t going to change anytime soon.

All of this is correct. Only places hiring people with significant experience are poor paying districts who can't fill positions. Also in those cases the pay is not worth leaving.

Lincoln-Way Central looking for new coach.
Let the speculations begin
WARNING: SWSC cross-over remarks to follow. Applicants need to come in with their eyes wide open about the reality of mandated cross-overs with the far-larger enrollment Blue Division that bakes in an historical losing rate of 87% in such games. Even though it may shift soon to "only" 2 cross-overs, it may be something to consider as a built-in ceiling to success.

Not sure what needs to be explained, they will get great applicants for the head job with lots of experience. The trouble will be the ability to bring in outside coaches, with lots of experience, as assistants who want to teach in the district. You have to know that top-quality coaches are going to want to bring some staff with them. They may also just hire an internal candidate and most of the current staff will remain.

Can applicants come with clear eyes and a full heart? I heard you can't lose with that.

What you are describing is almost EVERY job....coaching, corporate, teaching, etc.
Great resume, years of experiences, know the environment but we'll hire a 25 year old fresh out of school because they are cheaper.

With LWC and 210, I'm sure they have to consider whatever contract is in place for years and hiring outside. The Knights haven't had an in-district hire in quite some time, the past few outside hires have not gone well. I could see it attracting some possible assistants at LWE or LWW

The last opening that had no limit spending was / is Homewood-Flossmoor District. Taking into consideration only the South Suburbs here. I believe the LWC deal is already done.

Outside applicants may have to bring their A-games to the teaching part of the hiring process. I suspect any lightweights in the classroom would not be carried by division chairpersons or fellow department members in LW 210.

A frosh football player is making the interviews? Boy that could really be going for a “younger coach “ with less experience and a cost savings as well. Just kidding MC140. I think the populace will be happy when the coach is announced. Go Knights of LWC.

Yeah. The coach is probably already on staff.
