New: 5 Dangerous Teams You Don’t Want to Draw

Nice Edgy, here’s mine:

8A - Marist. I don’t believe in quality losses but I do believe in competing with the best and Marist seemed to play all the big boys on their schedule fairly well.

7A - Batavia - already 6 wins but could lose against STN this week. Nobody wants to face Batavia as a middle or lower middle seed if STN wins.

5A - Naz Academy. Close games against Lemont, Kankakee, and NND tell me they could beat anyone in 5A on a given Friday or Saturday.

4A - Spring Valley. Have been playing well 2nd half of season and may go south in 4A… don’t be surprised if they knock off Macomb or Carterville rd 1.

I wholeheartedly agree about Batavia. I wouldn't be surprised if they are in the finals, if opposite bracket of MC. I wondering if LWE had the subs in there when Batavia cut the lead in half?

I was at the game for the 1st half - LWE got up early and made some plays early. Batavia just came out flat and LWE capitalized with their speed. After the initial onslaught, Batavia hung in but tough to judge when down 3-4 TDs early.

I think Batavia has their work cut out for them to get to the finals, but never know. LWE had good success early with their very fast QB so I think that would be a good blueprint to start.. beat em with speed.

Also, Batavia 1st score quickly in 2nd half was against LWE starters I believe. I was on my way out at that point so missed rest of game.

A 7A sleeper for me is DGN. Experienced team that plays fast and tough.
Cosign on DGN as a sleeper pick to make the quarters, depending on their draw. They've played well in a WSS that (appears to) have a number of solid teams this year. Looking at scoring margins - they lost to both York and GBW by only 7, and beat other teams fairly comfortably. Should be a great game (and measuring stick) away at LT this week.

While the WSS teams haven't seen lots of playoff success recently, seems like the conference is up this year - and when they have had success, it's mostly been in 7A.

Appreciate the info!

Reed-Custer. I know there are some great programs in 3A, but the Comets in my opinion are the most dangerous team right now.

RC and IC are definitely some of favorites in 3A, but my biggest wildcard is actually Princeton in 3A. Princeton hasnt scored less than 37 pts all season and that was a 37-0 game.

I just don’t know how good Princeton is. Are they a very good-great team or are they truly 3A title contenders? TRAC is not a strong conference currently, so they haven’t played really anyone outside smaller 7-1 Rockridge (who I think is a contender at smaller levels).

That's cool. I know absolutely nothing about Princeton, so I'm looking forward to seeing them play. I'm looking forward to seeing Prairie Central as well. A friend of mine knows an assistant there and he says this might be the best team they've ever had. Some really good stories in 3A this year!

Interesting McE, I am also completely unfamiliar with Prairie Central.

Regarding Princeton and being somewhat familiar with their history the past 15-20 yrs, this easily feels like their best team in that time frame and maybe going longer than that just based on what I hear and seeing the scores.
