Montini BR

Gene
I don't think Montini has 400 boys enrolled, more like in the area of 330.
Thanks for the info. I just took a wild guess knowing that the total enrollment is around 750 kids. Still a big accomplishment for Montini winning against two bigger schools two weeks in a row. Without the Multiplier Montini would be a 4A school.

As someone has mentioned before, an ironic enrollment number for Montini.

Lombard (Montini) 666

Geez You would think they would round it to 665 or 667. I mean come on - most hotels don't have a 13th floor (but we all know floor 14 is really 13 in that instance!)

It's definitely not ideal but it's all about money and getting quality coaching. The catholic school just don't/won't have the money to sustain a quality coach with a family unless the wife is making the money.

I think Dunn leaving Marist was an eye opener.

These schools will struggle to get outside coaches that will put in the required time for these programs without them being in the building on a daily basis.

You get a guy in the building as part of his career, Nee/Kuska at Rita, they then have opportunities. Todd having his kids in Rita is a benefit and then when they are done you may see something with a guy like that. That was similar to Nye at Rice but there were a couple of things at play there. Nee at Rita gives him opportunities to do different things within the school to help his lot in life.

In Badke's case, he is getting the players in the school but the success itself is not there. Look at the results from 2004-2010. That is the success that Brian needs to replicate. Rice from junior class on down is pretty well off, it is getting to games in November that needs to happen there.

Nicholson is interesting there as he was a major part of their last successful years.

Even being in the building at a Catholic School its still tough to support a family. Nee is single, Nye wife kills at her job. My point is more coaches will be trending towards not being in the building and thats more than OK.
Badke will be just fine IMO. He needs playoff wins the next 3 to 4 years and I think he will get them. They had great offenses and very bad defenses, just needs to put it all together and he will. I understand that they are 1-3 right now but Like I said before the program is in great sharp. The neighborhood a face to the program and that is Badke and thats a great thing.

Don't take this as a bust on him, you know by my posts I'm a pretty knowledgeable guy and I'm a fan of football especially South Side Catholic, but I just don't think he's that good of a game coach. He's a great recruiter, he's a good salesman. As you said he's brought in great offensive weapons while failing to build a defense in his 6 years there. He's a extremely emotional. So far he has 2 one and dones, he's staring at his 2nd playoff miss this year, he doesn't even have a Prep Bowl Championship to hang his hat on...his best year was a quarterfinal appearance. Those players are going to stop coming unless they start making noise in November. I will give him this, he does have MC's # though. I don't think this will be his last year, but if they don't make a deep run in 2018, that's it IMO.

The program is in great shape and the kids will keep coming.
I think being emotional in this day and age is a great thing and something kids need to be around, with in reason.
Unless he retires which hes not,Badke isnt going anywhere, anytime soon, trust me on that.
This is no bust on you but Im know better than you when it comes this.

My personal opinion is that Badke isn't going anywhere. He's a really good "recruiter". His game day coaching is not very good. I don't see them making the playoffs. MC was in the same predicament in 2014, and they finish the regular season winning 4 of their last 5. They also made it to the state semifinals, so it can be done. Big difference is, MC had Lenti running the show.

Don't get me started on Good ole Frankie boy.
Let's not forget the scheduling BR has had since BAdke has been there. He doesn't play cupcakes

Lot of Lenti hate today...the man is the winningest coach in IL history, he's coached in 16 State Championships, winning 11, he's coached in all out classic games in IHSA history, he's played and beaten teams from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and 3 years ago played and nearly beat the #1 team in Pennsylvania during a rebuilding year, so Ol' Frankie boy doesn't back away.....hate him as much as you want, but give him his due respect.

Very sensitive, all I said was don't get me started. Well now you got me started.
Theres no doubt Lenti can coach, not saying that all. He's also had a system in place for years of being able to get athletes he wants. He's taking that and ran with it, which I tip my cap too. But IMO Frankie boy looks out for ole number #1 always has.

I don't really see the point in playing as tough a schedule as they do.

You do not get anything for having the most playoff points in the state.

I like Rita's schedule of playing some decent programs that they should beat but will be tested and in a down year can be beat.

In 8A Rice needs 8 or 9 wins to make the early playoff rounds more manageable. In 6A and 7A, any CCL Blue team is just subject to the luck of draw and if they get a nice one, a run at state is possible.

Did have those 3 straight wins against MC but also has a 5-1 record vs. Rita.

Agree that 2018 will be a defining year for his era with what should be his best overall/deepest class of seniors. And I think BR will be in 7A next season with enrollment around 700 this year.
